We stayed in a south facing Type 9 room (mid-price double room €755 for 7 nights HB) in late May/early June 2017.
Pools (outdoor heated) and large indoor pool were very good and clean and with many relaxation areas/saunas/treatment rooms and a further extension with another pool under construction. Food - 3/4 board included lunch snacks - was of a high standard and nothing was too much trouble for the staff who moved our table placements outside every time we requested onto the terrace as it was 30+c. Contrary to another comment prices for drinks etc. were not expensive by UK standards.
One thing we did initially have a problem with was the bed mattress which was worn and of a continuous sprung type and despite adding a topper was not comfortable.
The head housekeeper visited after 2 nights and lifted the mattress on one side and the slated bedframe came apart and the frame was changed under the supervision of the owner (not quite sure if she thought we were making a fuss about nothing) and a deep interior sprung mattress installed. Unfortunately, as my wife has a form of rheumatoid arthritis she still found this replacement a little hard but it was ok for me.
Even with this issue we will definitely revisit the hotel next year as it is a wonderful setting - 20 minutes from Czech border - and with lovely views and good visit opportunities in the area.

Room tip: Ask for a south facing room overlooking extensive gardens and pool area.

Outrageously expensive and rude!

We booked this hotel for a weekend from internet with a special offer and a surprising way more expensive final invoice .

So, It is expected when paying 300 euros a day for two to be able to enjoy a glass of wine at the diner table. But no.
A weekly speech relating the hotel history was schedule at 21:00 and we had no interest to join the obedient crowd of seniors and just wanted to enjoy our weekend.

However we were told twice by a seriously rude direction staff member that we were disturbing and that we had to leave the table…

Also you should have the spirit to enjoy a flyer on all tables stipulating your names and the numbers of stays there. It seems that after 20 or 30 times you might received a china cup with 4 chocolates and….get a massive cheer from your fellow seniors present there.

For 300 euros a day we can expect courtesy, respect and decency after all, this is a 4 stars hotel!

Be aware: when not following the schedule established by th

Hotel Mooshof is located in the Bavarian Forest east of Munich and close to the border with Czech Republic. My friends and I stayed there on a wellness/cross-country skiing weekend. As several of us were not feeling the best, we ended up spending most of our time using the wellness facilities and taking long walks in nearby forest parks.
This was my first time at a wellness hotel so I did not have any any expectations regarding saunas and pools, but I couldn't help be impressed with the high number of options that Mooshof offers: indoor and outdoor heated pools, several different sauna chambers, steam bath and lots of relaxation rooms including one with very comfy water beds. In typical German style, everyone was naked in the sauna area but my friends and I felt no discomfort at being the only ones in our bathing costumes.
The food was good. We had a package that included breakfast, evening meal and afternoon buffet. The afternoon buffet began at 2:00 p.m. and included several tasty cakes and some savoury options that could double as lunch. Breakfast was an extensive buffet that included cold cuts, lots of fresh fruit, cereals, bread, bacon and eggs and a chef on hand to cook eggs to order. The evening meal consisted of starter, main and dessert with three main options to choose from. I had fish every night and it was excellent. Dessert was always a delicious and artful looking creation that had everyone smacking their lips.
The service was of a high standard. Even if an, at times, brusque Bavarian approach is not everyone's cup of tea, the staff were for the most part very helpful, polite and friendly. The hotel owners made an effort to greet diners at individual tables every night which was a nice, personal touch.
I stayed in the new wing of the hotel. My room was spacious, comfortable and elegantly decorated with plenty of storage space. While the hotel is located on a main road, with the window closed, I couldn't hear any traffic passing at all.
The ensuite bathroom was modern, generously sized, well lit and had a good shower with instant hot water and a soap dispenser. Sadly it had no bath, but I believe there are baths in other rooms.
My suite cost 140 EUR per night. If you take into account that I had three meals per day, full, free access to all wellness and extensive gym facilities, then, in my opinion, this was not bad value for money. There were cheaper rooms too at just over EUR 100 for the same half-board deal.
On the negative side, the hotel could improve their WLAN service which works best in the lobby but not in the bedrooms. But if you want relaxation, then perhaps a break from WLAN is not the worst thing to suffer.
An older clientele would be more attracted to this hotel for chilling out, walking and cross country skiing. In my opintion, this is not the destination for young party goers, families with small kids or generation x'ers looking for flirtatious encounters.
Overall - a very enjoyable long weekend.
