Booked via the ANWB, we opted for the all inclusive 2 night stay including cake mid afternoon, dinner and free drinks. The hotel is located in a very beautiful part of Germany, made even more gorgeous by the autumnal trees. The rooms are clean and very quiet with a very comfortable bed and great shower. It is however not a hotel for everyone. Its a very nondescript 70's building (with bathroom decor to prove it) and the restaurant is more like a school canteen. Its a buffet dinner so as long as you like whats on offer you can pile it as high as you like. The bar serves a choice of red ,white or rose housewine (which was actually pretty good) beer as well as amaretto, schnapps and rum. Its lacks cosy charm and atmosphere so if you are looking for a romantic weekend find another hotel. If you are a family group looking for a good venue to meet up - its perfect. You can make as much noise as you like and disturb all the other guests. The pool and sauna were its redeeming features for us, the pool is a good size and you can actually swim in it. Time your visit to coincide with the bar opening and you have it to yourselves! It was advertised that you had to hire towels rather than use the room towels but thankfully this seems to have been changed - towels were available from reception without charge. Its a hotel used predominantly by Dutch and German guests so there is sadly no information available in English. Its located at the top of hill so the views are fabulous - unfortunately there are two other hotels there which makes parking extremely difficult. We drove a little further on past another hotel to discover a small and obviously undiscovered parking area. Unless you want to test your handbrake to the max on a hill, the walk is worth it! The town of Bad Laasphe has nothing to offer so once you have settled in for the day there is no where to go. Average age of the guests was 60 plus so take a pack of cards, a game or a book for your own entertainment.

The general areas of the hotel look good and recently renovated. The rooms are comfortable with good beds. Bathrooms are rather outdated with brown and yellow tiles. The all inclusive concept is good when away with friends but nothing I would consider doing with my partner.

Although called a design hotel Am Fang is not really design. Rooms are average but comfortable and sanitary elements not very modern either. However, you get your money's worth when using the all-in concept. Lavish breakfast, decent dinner and coffee and cakes in the afternoon. Drinks included as well. Staff is courteous and friendly.

We truly enjoyed our stay here.
The rooms where clean and we had a beautiful balcony view.
The breakfast was really good.
At night, there was some great entertainment '2Duo', who brought great admosphere and good singing of the vocalist (Agnes and Leslie).
And Elvis (Johnny Reel), who had a great voice, just like Elvis, with a replica of an Elvis suit.
We had a real good time.

Parking was not good. If you come after great place, beautefull views in a very nice village.
Here was the rooms and swimmingpool very good. The food was average, but enough chooice. 4 PM you have to fight for a parking spot.
But the most annoying things, was the lake of guests from other countries that the Netherlands. Everybody was Dutch.

Room Tip: Some rooms have a balcony, but they cost extra.
