I have stayed at YHA Treyarnon a number of times over the last few years - including twice in 2016, so I thought it was time I wrote a review!

The first thing to say about this place is its location - it is fabulous. The building is perched high on the cliffs (but not too close!) that overlook Treyarnon Bay itself. It is also a very short walk the larger and even prettier Constantine Bay just around the corner. The views are amazing - especially at sunset, and there are some fantastic coastal walks to be had - including one to Padstow where you can treat yourself to some fish and chips from Rick Steins place for a tenner!

The actual YHA building is fairly unassuming from the outside and has garden area with tables to the front and a large grassy area to the rear which I assume is used for people with tents. As you go into the building there is a small reception area/bar which forms part of a larger cafe. Patio doors lead out from here onto the front garden and seating area - which is very nice on a sunny day with a freshly made coffee or something stronger. Behind the main cafe area is a larger room with sofas, tables and chairs and a TV. This tends to get used mainly in the evening and there is also a log fire which is lit during the colder months. Its a really nice area in which to relax and read a book and chat to other people staying in the Hostel.

The food served in the Cafe is really good and very reasonably priced but be prepared to wait when the place is busy. The staff are really friendly and helpful which always makes the stay more enjoyable.

The accommodation is fairly basic and probably not dissimilar to many other YHA Hostels; however the place is due to close for refurbishment at the end of December 2016 for around 4 months when the rooms and showers etc are due to be upgraded, so what I write now about the noisy plumbing won't be relevant for much longer!

All in all this is a great place to stay either for a single night or for a week. I've only stayed out of season so its never been that busy, however in the middle of summer I'd imagine the place will be packed. Whenever you choose to go, I'm pretty sure you'll love the place and the location

Room tip: The rooms on the front have the best views - but none of them are bad!

We dropped in for coffee. Great home made shortbread and flap jack. Great bacon butty, with butter on the bread, always makes the difference. Great coffee. Great view. Really accomodating multi-tasking chef/waiter/till operator. Will be back

Perfect accommodation for our group of 10 friends in a week-end to Cornwall. We were upgraded to two rooms of 5 and 6 people (instead of two rooms for four and two dorm beds)
+ : available personnel, nice café, the most amazing location and view, in private rooms for 5 or 6, separated WC and showers, very practical !
- : in one of our room, the window was broken so it was very cold (but the duvets were very comfy!)

We did not stay here but called in several times for drinks and cake very good value and dog friendly. We did eat here on one of our visits and gave to say food was not brilliant it was hot but tasteless we had the specials seafood pizza and the king prawn Thai curry. Would visit again for snacks as nachos and chicken goujons were great as is the cakes and coffee
