“Fabulous house in great location for touring County Durham and Northumberland.”
Reviewed 21 November 2017 for a stay in November 2017

Have stayed in this lovely house in November for 5 consecutive years so it feels very much like home. It is so well equipped, in great condition and is lovely and warm. The location is great for visiting Durham and Newcastle. As avid horse racegoers, we are in striking distance of many of the northern tracks. 5 stars every time!

Shutters is the most perfect cottage that we have rented. It met all of our needs and exceeded our expectations. The layout and decor are very attractive. The bed and furnishings are very comfortable. The cottage is very well equipped. We particularly enjoyed having meals in the conservatory. The cottage is conveniently located and yet very private. The owner, Andréa, provides great information in advance & at the cottage, replies quickly to email and is a pleasure to deal with. We were doing walking in the Durham and Northumberland areas. Andréa gave us many helpful suggestions. We would love to be able to stay at Shutters again on a future visit to the area.

“Just perfect”
Reviewed 14 September 2017 for a stay in September 2017

This has been our second stay and once again it's just perfect. For the first two days we chilled and didn't leave shutters. It was so cosy. Thank you Andrea for making it a wonderful break

“Best rental we've ever had”
Reviewed 8 July 2017 for a stay in July 2017

Handily placed for Beamish museum, with a couple of decent restaurants within 5 minutes walk. A comfortable home from home, well equipped in a really quiet location. Easy parking and convenient for Durham, Newcastle, Hadrian's Wall, Cragside and Northumberland Coast. Could easily have stayed a second week and will be looking to go back next year.

“Excellent Location”
Reviewed 27 June 2017 for a stay in June 2017

The house is well equipped and comfortable. The reason we chose the house was the garden which with good weather was a real boon for our stay. Beamish Museum was an easy walk away and Chester le Street, Durham and the Coast all within easy reach. A La Spicery, The Shepherd and Shepheress (Excellent for a cooked breakfast) and San Lorenzo are all within a short walk and all provided us with an excellent meal.
