We stayed 3 nights including weekend. Great room and fantastic beach; the resort is really remote and difficult to reach - when we stayed the main road to the resort was closed (in high season!!) and we had to take a long detour on unpaved roads through the woods (nothing you want to try in the dark) - so half-board or full is recommended - the next location is approx. 20-30 minutes away. The advantage is, that hardly anyone not staying at the resort is going to the beach; we have never seen such an empty, great beach during high season in may years of travel - amazing.
The overall setting and quality (and prices) of the resort is really 5 star; unfortunately the staff isn't - too young and unexperienced (apprentices?), unable to treat guests with the maturity and distinction. They are focused on technicalities yet unable to create any welcome atmosphere.
Another disturbing factor are the many small rules for this and that; e.g. that you have to return the beach bag with flip-flops at reception upon check-out (to proof the guest is not a thief ???) , that you only get 1 bottle of water in the room per stay (not every day); the welcome drink is precisely defined, no deviation possible (e.g. switch to beer instead of prosecco); the request to change the seating for dinner, was almost personal insult for the head of staff that evening; the dinner salad buffet is only an option as starter but not additional; many little things that do not fit a 5 star place but rather a 2 star hotel somewhere.
A big disappointment (especially compared to other resorts in Sardinia) was the breakfast offering. Self Service for coffee (Americano) while there is enough staff, the selection is average international standard; no local fruit selection, no other local products, scarce bread selection and unsavory scrambled eggs.
So it is not perfect - yet, we will return as the overall remote setting in the woods, the room and the beach are just fantastic.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for choosing to stay at Is Arenas Resort, near Oristano, the perfect place to feel immersed in nature.
We agree with you about our wide sandy beach: from the pine forest, a green path leads to the Resortโ€™s private beach; it is a pleasant stroll through nature and fresh air, an opportunity to breathe the scents of the Mediterranean bush and to listen to the sound of the sea as it breaks onto the shore. Alternatively, for those who prefer not to walk, a free shuttle service is available every day to take the Guests of Is Arenas to the beach with facilities.

We regret that your vacation experience was not entirely pleasant for you; thank you in any case for the valuable comments that help us to understand how to improve our standards.

Regarding the main road through the pinewood, we are sorry, but it's state property and we can't fix anything by our own.

Best regards.

We stayed here in May for 9 days, and it was very expensive as a family with 2 children. I felt like the value for money on what we paid was not great and that only included breakfast.
It is far away from anything so GET A CAR otherwise you will be stuck paying ridiculous prices for lunch on the beach bar or next to the pool and the food isnโ€™t great! So if you have young children be prepared to either pay half board or all inclusive. We went to a local town called Oristano (25 min drive) where there are many restaurants, but again with young children be prepared to eat dinner by 8/8:30 as that is the time most open out there and all restaurants close from 2:30 - 7:30pm
The most local and amazing place was la Fattoria (a local farm run by a family) food was 30 Euro a head and we ate loads and drank loads plus the family were lovely.
We travelled to Cagliari beach (1:45 mins away) one day and went to one of the beach bars there which was actually very nice.
We travelled out of season in late May and weather was awful so defo travel in late June - August to get next weather. Overall there isnโ€™t much there unless you are prepared to drive into different towns
The one thing we did love was the staff, the guy that serves drinks at both bars is lovely and the kids club guy was also very lovely with the kids.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for choosing to stay at Is Arenas Resort, in the province of Oristano.

We regret that your vacation experience was not entirely pleasant for you; about your comment on the Resort category and value, we would like to point out that the structure fully falls into the classification of 5 stars for the location, services and general infrastructure, being also, among other things, one of the few resorts surrounded by a vast pine forest and with exclusive access to a large private white beach. If you compare our rates with other 5 star hotels in the island, you'll hardly find cheaper 5 stars resort.

As for your comment on our food offer, we always suggest to book the half board treatment because we know about our location and more overe because we support our cuisine concept: lunches and dinners consist of Mediterranean dishes, made with fresh and seasonal ingredients. Each course is inspired by Italian and Sardinian cuisine, but is prepared with a sophisticated and innovative twist. The menu therefore offers appetisers and salads, pasta or rice dishes to start, meat and fish main courses with side dishes, and a choice of cheeses, fruits and desserts. There is always at least one vegetarian option per course and dishes without gluten or other allergens can always be prepared upon request.

Thank you in any case for the valuable comments that help us to understand how to improve our standards.

Best regards,
