Vierumaki resort is fantastic. It is set near to a forest and lakes, with trails around. There is any number of activities you can do; Horseback riding (Icelandic horses), cross country skiing, swimming, tennis, squash, skating, and more. There are saunas and a spa. One thing to note - as you prepare for the trip. All activities cost extra, and you need to book in advance. If you go during a busy season, many things are booked up already (we found the hard way when we wanted to book a massage). The other thing to note is that there are no extra amenities in the rooms. There is basic soap from a dispenser in the shower and at the sink, but other than that, no shampoo and conditioner or lotion, no robe provided. I have never stayed in nice hotel where those things were not provided so I did not come fully prepared. The staff are friendly, but there is often a line at reception and make sure you plan for a few minutes for check in and check out.More
