As a host, Bob couldn't have done more to help us out both before and during our stay in St Marcellin. Instantly on hand to deal with lack of electricity post-Thunderstorm and a minor incident with the pool mechanism - both of which were rectified the same day by the numerous on-site pool technicians and cleaner - a lovely lady who speaks little English but very welcoming and was able to let us in slightly earlier than specified on day of arrival as we phoned in advance to let her know we may be getting there an hour prior to the accepted entry time. I chose the villa location as I have holidayed over a number of years in Vaison as a child and have very happy memories of the town and the surrounding area. Travelling with my parents, husband and small children we needed somewhere to appeal to all ages and being on one level, with a pool and some outside space, this villa seemed charming and perfect for our needs. I definitely wasn't disappointed on that front. The pictures really don't do the place justice. With off road parking up a secluded drive, beautifully maintained (small) gardens and a pristine pool, we were really impressed considering price-wise it is slightly cheaper than a lot of similar sized villas in that prime location.
Well equipped, rustic in style and slightly away from the madding crowds, we spent a very peaceful week relaxing in the garden and venturing out to visit various markets and hill top villages during the week. The highlight of our stay was eating out regularly on the beautiful terrace, surrounded by some of the most awesome views I have experienced in a holiday rental.
My only criticisms, from our perspective were a) only one toilet - which for 6 people can cause some problems especially with small children suddenly finding themselves desparate to visit the facilities... b) the bathroom needs a real overhaul as it is a bit grubby and outdated but served its purpose c) it really does need some form of clothes storage in each of the bedrooms as we found ourselves living literally out of a suitcase for the week which, with small children and elderly grandparents, is by no means ideal and d) its worth noting that if you are in any way disabled you would find it very difficult to get in and out of the beds as they are very low to the floor.
Despite these (small) issues, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this lovely villa to anyone wanting a peaceful getaway in the heart of Provence with shops, etc on the doorstep. Something for everyone!
