We were looking for a place outside of Avignon near Fort Saint Andre and on the Rhone River. The terrace right on the water offers superb views and a tranquil atmosphere. The food was good although a bit pricey. The four of us enjoyed salmon, beef tartare, wolffish, and a beautiful salad (our main dishes ranged from 16 euros to 26). We heard their pizzas were good (although they were not serving them this Monday night). Overall, great atmosphere and solid food. And if a piece of bread happens to "fall" into the river, you will see lots of fish!

We went here for a drink - but might have stayed (or gone back) for something to eat if the experience had been better. The river view is lovely. However, because we were only having a drink we were not allowed a nice table with comfortable seats but instead exiled to a table with a dirty cloth and at least one broken chair - although plenty of tables free where others were eating. We ordered a beer and a lemonade. Lemonade slammed down with such force that some spilt. Small bottle lemonade E3, 25 cl beer a pression, E3.50. gave the waiter E20 and only got change for E10. He disappeared into the kitchen and we had to chase him down to get the right change.

The restaurant was recommended by our hotel and very glad they did. The food was excellent, the location amazing and the service from Philippe better again. As non French speakers Philippe was generous with his time and helped us immensely. We even had him choose the wine and now have a new favorite. Can't recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Spotted this whist cycling on the river island. Looked so good placed on the Rhone so decided to check it out the next day. Was surprised to get such a good table at the river side and the food itself was also up to the location. Yes it's a bit pricier than your normal place but it's well worth it. Would have gone again if we had found it sooner.

Our friends visited this restaurant early in our holiday, but we had to stay behind as our son felt unwell. They liked it so much that we all returned near the end of our two weeks. It was above average for several reasons. The menu was a little more imaginative than many restaurants and very varied. They did excellent pizzas as well as fish and meat dishes, lovely cocktails and good wines. My friend recommended the duck from her first visit which I would probably have opted for anyway. I had an unusual swordfish starter with coconut and ginger sliced like you get with sushi. The service was good and the view over the river at sunset was also lovely. The chips were homemade and served in generous bowls to be shared between three people - i don't bother with 'frites' unless they are something special. Our son said his pizza was the best he'd had during the trip. My husband felt there was a little something missing from his tiramisu but we have experienced this before in France - French chefs don't seem to pack the coffee punch of genuine Italian tiramisu. But it had some subtle amaretto flavours.

It is a little bit difficult to find as it is not very well labelled and you have to approach it fro the back as it completely fronts onto the river. Look for the sign just saying - La Guingette. - other places it is advertised as Vieux Moulin so is a bit confusing.
