We stayed at the Azur for 4 nights whilst visiting friends with a yacht moored in the marina. We always prefer smaller hotels which offer the personal touches missing in larger establishments. Hotel Azur delivers on that in spades, nothing is too much trouble for them to help or advise with. Our room was on ground level, modest but perfectly formed with very efficient air conditioning & we walked out to breakfast by the lovely pool every morning. Azur has an enviable position near enough the marina & town for 2 minute walking access but far enough to avoid any late night noise nuisance & with a super restaurant adjacent. Private parking was not cheap but very convenient. A very pleasant stay & we will certainly stay again next time we are in town.

Stayed for only one night, wish it had been more, with members of my family. We had a lovely time and the staff were great, very friendly, helpful, informative about the area and recommended some great restaurants.

Room Tip: Higher up rooms have better views

We stayed in the Azur for 2 nights. The room we had was new. Everything is very nice and perfect: room, beakfast, pool,...and the view from the balcony. It is very quite at the end of the street.
The hotel is only a 2 minutes walk from the beach and the shopes and restaurants.
We had nothing to complain about. I would recommand the Azur as the best hotel at La Grande Motte.

I stayed at the Hotel Azur in La Grande-Motte with my wife and two young sons for 6 nights in August 2014. The hotel has some very good points and some less good features. It is in an excellent location, right by the marina and beach, within easy walking distance of the beach, restaurants and some shops. However, it is in an area where you have to pay to park on the street. The hotel charge 15 Euros a day for a parking space. You could park 10 minutes walk away from the hotel for free but at busy times it might be very difficult to find a parking space. La Grande-Motte gets very busy, particularly in August, particularly at the weekend and particularly in the evenings.

The staff of the hotel are very friendly and helpful and are very willing to provide advice on places to visit, directions, places to shop, etc.

We stayed in a suite, which consisted of one double bedroom with a balcony overlooking the pool, a small adjacent room with twin beds, a bathroom and separate toilet off the second bedroom. The rooms were very musty - we were all sneezing throughout our stay and I had sore eyes. I put this down to allergies from the rooms. The children complained that their beds were hard and uncomfortable. The toilet was ridiculously small, you could barely use it while keeping the door closed. The bathroom, while reasonably spacious, with two sinks, had no shower curtain and a shower head which was very difficult to keep upright so that you could stand under it. There was a reasonable amount of storage space, an in room safe, and good quality free WiFi.

Breakfast is served either in your room or around the pool. On one day when it was wet, breakfast was served indoors. It was not that warm in the early mornings when we were there and the sun was only over the pool from 9am so we didn't have any early breakfasts. The breakfast was good, although with the exception of the bakery items, nothing was freshly prepared. You get a large basket of rolls, croissants and pastries, juices and hot drinks, cheeses and meats, jams, natural yoghurt and fruit pots. We enjoyed it although it got a bit boring after 6 days and we were disappointed by the lack of fresh fruit. You order your drinks in advance and everything is served to your table when you arrive.

The pool area was very pleasant and most of the time there were plenty of free deck chairs. Pool towels are only available for rent at 3.50 Euros per person per day. This is something I have not encountered anywhere else I have stayed. I would suggest bringing or buying towels. Although the pool is supposed to be heated, the day we arrived it was really to cold to swim in. The hotel put this down to the poor weather they had been having. On our last day, after a few days of sunshine, it had warmed up enough to be warm enough to make swimming pleasant. However, they spray mist out of pipes around the pool to cool you down in hot weather - I found this annoying when I was reading by the pool as I continually had to shield my book from the spray.

This is supposed to be a 4 star hotel but I would only rate it at 3 star. There is no lift, although our room was only up a small flight of stairs and one of the staff helped carry our bags.
