What a find! We went in for a drink and landed up chatting to Massimo about his wines - he is so knowledgeable and passionate about the wines. We went back the following day and had a great wine tasting session, learning so much about the Italian wines from various regions. We are looking forward to receiving our order shipment soon. Thanks Massimo

This is an extensive wine shop with a small bar and seating area. We stopped in for a glass or two of wine and asked the gentleman (who we assume was the owner) for his recommendations for a dry white and a red. He picked great options for both of us (and did not pick anything overpriced, as everything available by the glass was about the same price). We followed his recommendation for a second glass and were equally pleased. We bought 2 bottles based on the wines we had while there. It is not cheap, but he knows his wine and had some unique options.

It was raining so Sophie and I decided to visit Volterra. WE parked the car below the town so I had at least a hundred steps to climb before reaching the city and the first place Sophie took me into to show me the fabulous collection of wines on offer was this charming enotecca. However before I was allowed a drink she took me off shopping. Havin managed to buy the things that I wanted back we went and I had a special glass of a local 'biolgica' white wine. Ther is a wide range of well kept whites and reds to choose from. If you did want some food to go with it then there is a choice of salumi and cheese.

Been here quite a few times but didn't make it unfortunately on our most recent visit this December. Wonderful selection of wines and a Supremely knowledgeable owner and host. Whether dropping by for a great bottle of wine to take away or having Cold Cuts and Cheese on the premises with a recommended wine pairing you will emerge with a smile on your face. Highly recommended, centrally located!

Enoteca Scali is one of our favorite wine bars in the world owned by a local husband & wife team. It's always a great experience. The place is beautiful with dining tables in a back room, and decorated with wine.
Massimo will sprinkle his pours with a quick bit of info and his thoughts on the wine...He doesn't hold back! He gladly introduces us to producers we don't yet know instead of pouring the same big names found around the world. That's part of the charm for us.

More a shop than bar, but you can get a fabulous charcuterie platter or sandwich as you grab a bottle on the go or taste a great wine by the glass or bottle. They carry the big names, but their heart is in championing small production of organic native varietals. Prices are fair & reasonable. Selection is extensive from all regions of Italy and a smattering of French labels. This is the place for both seasoned collector and wine novice to try and buy to their heart's content!
