We got to the restaurant around 7 pm, just ahead of a large group of tourists. The server took special care with us to explain the menu items, many of which come directly from a farm nearby. Two of us shared the huge Bistecca alla Fiorentina, nearly 3 kilos (including the large t-bone), one had the tender lamb chops, and the other, a ricotta and spinach dish topped with black truffle. We enjoyed the house wine and a few vegetable side dishes.Their vegetarian dishes are all marked with a "v" on the menu. The service was warm and attentive and the food was first quality. Pasta is made daily on the premises.

In one word: great athmosphere, good food and excellent wine.

We planned to have diner outside, but we didn’t make a reservation, so we went inside.

Although we expected that the street view would “make the” athmoshere on a warm August evening, it was the inside environment of the restaurant that was great!

It was very busy, but Antonio and mister Senes himself were great hosts.

If you are looking for a high-end Italian restaurant (family or couples; this mix is no problem) don’t look further.

Spaghetti Tartufo: top!
Best choice red wine: II Bruciato (2016)

We went there for a dinner, location looked very good, in Volterra’s old town. We were welcomed by a rude waitress, who was very nervous all the time, making guests feel like they are doing something wrong. She didn’t speak English, actually no one did out of the whole personnel. When we asked for an apricot juice for our 4-year old, we were told that this is a restaurant where guests usually drink wine, and they can offer us orange or apple juice only. The service was rather slow, and the food not as we expected, very small portions, particularly not worth the high bill we paid at the end. The menu English translation was generally wrong, misleading guest to order food they actually wouldn’t choose. The order they served the dishes was also wrong, they served the starters along, even after the main dish. We were charged “coperto” 2,5 EUR each, even for our little girl who only had her “apple juice”. Generally, I would advise Volterra visitors to look for another choice when selecting their dinner place.

We were lucky enough to get a table here tonight, and had a wonderful meal. I had the spaghetti with fresh anchovies, my husband the lamb pasta dish. Both meals rated amongst our favourites of our 5 week trip to Italy. But it is not only the food, which is great, and you can actually see the pasta being made, (and they also run pasta making courses), but the service here was a standout. I was surprised that is only rated 37 out of 70 restaurants in Volterra. It deserves a higher rating. Thank you to the staff for a lovely meal and experience

We had lunch on the terrace of this restaurant in the city center of cozy Volterra. As the lunch was excellent, and very good price / quality, we decided to book a cooking workshop two evenings later. This was a very good decision as the cooking workshop led by Reka was a great experience. This young woman knows all about pasta, and is clearly passionate about it. Her english is excellent and the room for the workshop is convenient and cozy. We made pici, papardelle and ravioli. It was then cooked by the kitchen and a sauce was added. Best ravioli we ever ate ! It was a very nice experience, we learned a lot and spent a lovely evening. What we could not eat, was packed to take away. Thanks a lot Reka, we will be back one day...
