We stayed here from 9th September to 16th September 2017 - so back only a day! We found the hotel, staff, service and food was second to none. We stayed on the top floor (5th); we could have used the lift every time but we needed to burn the calories from the lovely breakfasts, they had everything! Cooked menu included a choice of scrambled, poached, fried, and boiled eggs, eggs benedict, avocado and egg on toast, french (egg) toast, cereals, cold meats, cheeses, fruit - fresh and tinned and juices, yoghurts, prunes, croissants, cakes, and even prosecco if you fancied it. I'm sure I'll have missed something out too! There was a selection of teas and a coffee machine. However, the best cappuccino we found was made by Franco (he knew just how we liked it ie strong) and he would look for us every morning to make sure we got our fix. Thank you Franco! Our room was cleaned every day and fresh sheets and towels were provided daily too. Our room was very nicely furnished, very stylish. We loved the TV housing on the wall - it looked like a big mirror frame, matching the bedroom furniture. The bar area was very elegant with murano light fittings everywhere. It all looked very impressive. We ate in the hotel one evening and really enjoyed the food. There are however some excellent restaurants in Viareggio and we had to try as many as we could. The hotel also provided guests with beach towels and a ticket for 2 deck chairs with the Bar Irene opposite the hotel, as they don't have a pool. The beach is lovely and if you require a sunbed the Irene Bar will upgrade for 5 euros each per day. The facilities were very good and food and drinks available all day. We loved it and would not hesitate to come back. Only 20 minutes to Lucca on the train, which we loved, and also Pisa only 20 minutes on the train too. Fab holiday.

Room Tip: Don't know if there are any bad ones!

I stayed at this hotel with my husband and baby son, and we had a problem-free experience. The hotel room was clean, the staff were lovely and helpful, and the hotel itself was perfectly located across the street from the beach. We only had breakfast in the hotel, but it was substantial, and there was a lot of variety. We will definitely be staying here again the next time we're in Viareggio.

We booked a package to Viareggio through Jet 2 which inluded return flights to Pisa, transfers and a week's B&B in the President Hotel. Also included in this package was daily use of two deckchairs and a parasol on the beach at Bagno Irene Beach Bar right across the road. For €5 per day we upgraded one deckchair to a sunbed and this was a perfect place to spend lazy days. The staff at the hotel were all friendly and accommodating. The breakfast menu was extensive and very good with lots of choice on the buffet (fruit, cereal, toast, meat, cheese etc) plus hot drinks and juices. You could also order fresh cooked omelettes, poached eggs, fresh juices and many other items so you won't go hungry! The room was a good size, we were on the fifth floor overlooking the promenade and the beach. The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring the sea front and a few blocks in from the hotel you can hire bikes so that you can explore the whole length if you like without getting tired! We also walked to the station one day and got the train to La Spezia followed by a day pass for the Cinque Terre trains-an absolute must! Our only disappointments were the fact that there was no pool and the bar was a bit depressing and over-priced, however we took a bottle of something with us and had our night caps in our room after the first night. In all a great base for Viareggio and beyond.

Room Tip: High, beach facing rooms have lovely views

Booked this hotel as it was rated highly in here.

We stayed for two nights and the room was clean and has air conditioning which was welcome in 40 degree heat!

Staff at front desk were helpful and you can park for €8 per day on the street or there is another car park which costs €25 per day.

To visit the beach you have to pay €15 per day which you pay at the hotel and use Bar Irene which is right in front of the hotel.

Breakfast was good which a wide variety of choice.

I really liked this hotel but my friend stayed in the Palace hotel along the road and this had the added benefit of a rooftop bar which was stunning.

If I was to go back I would probably stay at the Palace instead because of this.
