This has been completely a bad experience for both of us. The train next to the tent made our nights become nightmares (no sleep for 3 days due to really hard noise). You have to pay for the wifi and sometimes this does not even work. I had the worst pizza you could ever imagine (never take 4 formaggi in case you go). Located far from the beach (at least walking). In the beginning they explain us that the train station was at 15 min walking but it turned out that it was around 3km far from the camping... Besides and most importantly we had an unbelievable situation when paying.. They wanted us to pay for the big area and instead we were situated in a small one (the price changes from 16 to 11). We asked our neighbors and they were paying for the small one. The camping said that cars cannot go to the small areas but instead they had a sign indicating cars allowed in there and all our neighbors had cars as well. Thereby, they were just taking advantage of us! After excuses from them and several lies they recognized the situation and threw the rest of the money on our faces... As I said: wort camping experience ever.

Stayed here in our campervan (2 adults and 3 kids 13, 11 & 3). Easy to find whilst en route to southern Italy and nice and close to Livorno and Pisa which we were also visiting. VERY clean pool with lots of space and sunbeds etc. Beware, EVERYONE needs to wear a swim hat to go in the pool, these can be bought for €2 on site.
Shower/toilet blocks nice (not up to German or French standards), clean and lots of room. Actual pitches are ok but big camper vans (8metres +) have to go to the far end of the site which is directly next to the train track that has high speed trains running 24/7. This wasn't a problem for us as we only stayed at the site for 2 nights.

All in all a great place to chill for a couple of days, to have a break in the driving and for the kids to play in the pool.

My husband and I have just returned from 8 nights camping at this site. The facilities are brilliant. The swimming pool is a great size with plenty of beds. There is even a sauna. Everywhere is very clean and tidy. The staff work extremely hard and are the friendliest people you could meet. We ate all our meals on site and the food is cooked fresh and is excellent. The menu is very varied and the prices are very good. We loved the karaoke on the Friday night. They even played some songs in English too. It's the best site we have used. The toilets and showers are cleaned almost all day and evening as the cleaner is always around cleaning something. Amazing. I'd recommend this site to anyone that camps. So if you are visiting this area then this is definitely the best site around. We will definitely be back next year. Thankyou to all the staff we had such a fantastic time.

We stayed at La Pineta for a week in June 2014 in a bungalow/cabin (number 10) at the corner of the site. First the service here was excellent; the reception was extremely helpful and the staff in the small shops and the restaurant/pizza were fantastic. (the young girl in the groecry shop especially was very friendly. The bungalow was OK but looking a bit old in places - the patio furniture was very worn and the bed uncomfortable. It was also a very small plot - as were all the bungalows as far as I could see. (you had to be happy to more or less sit next to your neighbours if eating out). There was much shade which is probably good in the height of summer but for us we missed the evening sun. The pitches may be better but they are at the end of the site next to the railway.

Also we got bitten a lot - it might be the area.

The pool was the best feature of the site - during the week in June it was hardly busy at all and I had it to myself some of the time.
We ate in the bar a few nights and had a good pizza etc at the reasonable prices and the house red was very good.

The only other downside of the site is that it is a bit far from anywhere...the beach is a longish walk from the site and couuldnt be done more than once a day there and back. Also the site is on a very busy road and just to get to the nest junction you had to walk against some heavy traffic - the walk of death as we called. Viareggio itself is very long walk though there are irregular buses for 1.10 euro (buy tickets at the shop). In truth you either need a car or a bike to get the best of the site - they hire at 7 euro a day. Viareggio is OK but not that much to do if you dont like beach holidays and the promenade beaches take away from the attraction of the place like many Italian resorts - though the architecture is interesting. The Lago de Torre is worth a visit and we also went to Lucca for a day.

Mainly 'static' caravans as typical in Italy with plenty of space for touring holidaymakers. Spacious pitches, spotless facilities, friendly staff.
Nice swimming pool (bring or buy a cap)- we even noticed a sauna in the shower area of the pool- children's play area and restaurant.
We paid 26 euro per night, including electricity & shower (camper with 2 people).
We looked at a campingsite near by, but la Pineta compared very favourable in our view. We would definitely come back here!
