My husband and I just returned from another fabulous skiing vacation in the Dolomites, in our opinion the best skiing in the world. We, once again, stayed at Hotel Belaval and we wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else. The owner and staff are fantastic and treat us like family. The Hotel is consistently being updated (this year they redid their lobby with inviting sitting areas and a fabulous bar), the rooms are comfortable and nicely equipped, the spa is outstanding and the food is amazing! Truly!! You should come just for the food!! But there are so many more reasons to come, we see familiar faces in many other guests and have built friendships over the years, not to mention the Hotel's location is perfect for ski in/out as it is located almost at the base of Saslong A. There is actually a short cut that takes you directly to the back of the hotel and almost literally into the ski locker room. If you don't have a preferred hotel in Selva, make a reservation at Belaval. I assure you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: If you are staying more than a week we suggest the rooms on the top floor (Alpen Rose) as they are roomier than the other rooms.

We have been back to Hotel Belaval eight times and it gets better each time! The location of the hotel is fabulous, 100 feet down a hill to begin the day and literally to the back door at the end of the day. The accommodations are very nice and the staff/family is amazing. The food is out of this world.
We highly recommend this hotel for a fabulous vacation in the Dolomites.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are nice, there are some rooms on the top floor that are a bit larger and more comfortable for those staying for longer periods.

Just back from our second visit to hotel Belaval, we were delighted again. It is a great hotel ideal for those seeking something special. The family are friendly and the food is excellent. You don't get big tour groups here and there is not a lot of English spoken in the restuarant (i.e. guests were mainly locals which adds to the fun). We got a menu written in English so no problem choosing great meals. Local wine is reasonably priced and suited us fine. Sure you need to pay in cash but we were advised of this in advance. The hotel is located app. 15mins from the main town in a very quiet area. Even though we did not have a car we had no problems getting back & forward. We hope to return.

Came here for a week of hiking with friends and our 5 year old child. The setting is beautiful, mountains, green, alpine forests. The town is within walking distance. 15 mins uphill.

The room - not big - had a small balcony with an amazing view of mountains. The decor is somewhat dated but everything is made from the local wood - no MDF here. The bathroom again, not huge has good water pressure, clean.

But what I loved most about this hotel was the food. Every night we were treated to 3 courses of fine tyrolean cusine which varied each night. The salad bar was the same every night but it was fine. The owner´s son is a trained chef and it´s a family business where they care about their guests and their well being. The property is keep tidy and neat with a vegetable garden.

The only thing is that you had to check out in cash and if you need to pull out money from a bank in town from a foreign credit card you have to do it during banking hours. There are ATMs but sometimes this does not work. Only one bank - the agricultural bank- was able to do the transaction for us.

Parking might also be an issue during peak season. Big cars might find it hard maneuver in the basement car park, so we parked most days just outside the entrance and another time we had to park it 100m down the road but it´s very safe.

Room Tip: Book in advance and maybe ask for a room not facing the main road so that it is quieter if you are a light sleeper.

Hotel Belaval is a fabulous hotel with ski in/out capabilities. It is located 100 feet from the Saslong B slope which is a gateway to 417 lifts within Val Gardena. The Hotel is constantly being renovated and the rooms offer all of the modern comforts of home. The Spa is first class. What is most impressive about this hotel is the exquisite cuisine, it is truly a dining experience every evening with six course gourmet meals. On some nights the hotel also offers live entertainment during dinner, they call it Tirolean Dinner which refers to the local cuisine.
The staff is extremely friendly and the hospitality offered is superb...we highly recommend this hotel and can't wait to return there ourselves in 2014!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are fabulous, however, the rooms on the third floor are extra spacious and offer fantastic views. Highly recommend paying the small extra charge for extended stays.
