Just returned from a lovely week away at Grand Parco Del Sole. It isn't 4 star by uk standards but it is clean, the food delicious and staff helpful and hardworking! A great base to see Sorrento and the surrounding areas. Expect a laid back relaxed approach to life and service. There is a queue for sunbeds in the morning and people do go away and leave them for most of the day which is disappointing, it does need better management but may not occur if people were more considerate of each other.
We took our daughter who is 1 and a half the staff went out of their way to welcome her, nothing was too much trouble. Antonio and Clever took a particular shine to her : )

The pavements to Sorrento can be tricky with a pushchair as they are quite narrow but it is manageable.
Swimming in the grand Marina was a highlight of the holiday, the sun loungers were not expensive although you do need to get there early as it becomes very crowded by midday. All in all a lovely family holiday.

My wife and I booked a weeks holiday at Hotel Parco Del Sol at short notice and we were not dissapointed.
On arrival we had a lovely warm welcome from Rosie who offered us a glass of prosecco and directed to the outside dining area as lunch was being served. Our suitcases were taken straight up to our room for us.
(Rosie is a real asset to this hotel and was always there to help with a big smile if we had any questions which made our stay just perfect).
Our room was a good size very clean with a nice marble bath room and had a view of the pool.
The food was very good with lots of choice you wouldn't go hungry here. Lunch is served outside and dinner inside in the restaurant. All the waiting staff were very professional, efficient, entertaining and funny. When a restaurant is so well run its just great to see.
The pool area is well laid out with lots of orange and lemon trees for shade on a hot day and plenty of sun beds, which cannot be reserved before 9am, a great idea.
The drinks from the bar especially the cocktails were a bit hit and miss (exceptionally sweet mainly made from concentrate) but the draft beer was good as was the wine with the evening meal.
On our first morning we had a welcome talk from our First Choice rep, following he took the group on a free guided walk into Sorrento ( we would recommend this) very informative, includes wine, limoncello and ice-cream for one euro. We booked the Amalfi Select tour. Its an all day tour which was amazing and worth every penny with a great driver and guide.
A courtesy shuttle bus operates between the hotel and Sorento town or its a fifteen minute walk.
All in all a great weeks holiday and we look forward to returning to this hotel.

Room Tip: Pick a room on a higher floor with a pool view.

My husband and I arrived at this hotel at the end of July for 10 days.
Room was ok and it was clean with maid service.
Food was plentiful and the salads & pizzas were to die for. Very yummy.
The only thing that I didn't like (because it was not an option) twice a week the evening dinners were outside and you had to pair up with another couple. The first time we paired up It was with a lovely couple and we had a lovely evening. However, there should be enough to tables to sit couples who want a lovely evening together.
The location was amazing and the weather was fantastic.
Pool size was standard and a reasonable amount of beds.
I would have to say the staff were brilliant and worked really hard.

We were meant to be staying at this hotel at the start of July, it was a family holiday with two boys and the first time we had booked a holiday using a Tour operator – Thompson which was the first mayor mistake we made. We had seen this hotel on a previous holiday to Sorrento and stayed at the Sister property which had always been a great experience so although there were mixed views about this hotel we thought we would give it a try as the other hotel is now adult only.
To say we were disappointed is an understatement, we had booked 2 rooms next to each other as no family room was available, a balcony and to be as high up as possible to avoid noise and our boys sleeping. We were put into two rooms miles apart with no real balcony and on the ground floor. The receptionist tried to help but the rooms they showed us were not suitable either and on different floors. We were told to speak to our rep who was not back until the next day and the 24 hour Thompson helpline were no help at all. Our rooms apparently were the best in the hotel and as you will see from our photos the mould, stains, remains from previous guests, shower screen that had so much filler around the screen and walls does not really reflect best hotel rooms. Rooms smelt of damp and were dark, the corridors were brown with dirt and general bad maintenance the car park we were told to use as we had hired a car had broken glass all over the floor, bins over flowing, various equipment etc not really what you would expect from a hotel car park. The rooms were like something our son had stayed in on a school trip to Devon which cost us £100 not £3000. There was no way we could stay here and it was so disappointing that having been up since 2am in the morning we were making no progress via our Rep Stephen or the Thompson 24 hour helpline. When we met with Stephen he said it was difficult for him to say anything but he didnt disagree with us at any point either, there were also other family that came up to us and said they had suffered similar issues with rooms as a family. we also understand that this hotel is due to have a refurbishment it needs to have one sooner rather than later it should be downgraded in its current state. So we had no choice but to take things into our own hands and found an alternative hotel to stay in just down the road which also happened to be a Thompson hotel and Four star but as a comparison it felt like 6 star. Still we had no support from Thompson and even the receptionist at the new hotel tried to help but the manager was rude and not prepared to help in any way. we tried and tried to get this sorted with Thompson as well as enjoy our holiday, we had had to cancel a trip last year as we have a family disaster to deal with so this was such a special week for us all to enjoy some much needed family time together. The rep Tom Warne asked for us to meet him to complete our complaint form and help with our transfer back to the airport well he was just as clueless and impolite as everyone else at Thompson it must be part of their customer policy be has unhelpful as you can. He didn’t arrive for appointments when agreed he didn’t respond to emails or calls and when he finally arranged to meet us on our last full day in Sorrento at 8am he was 20 minutes late and was so obvious he had been out on the Saturday night and over slept we gave up there was no time to complete the form as he knew we had to be someone for 9am and wanted to enjoy our last full day of what to date had been not great. The last anoyment was that Tom told us the Thompson airport shuttle could not access our new hotel due to the road so we would have to walk 10 minutes up the road to the carpark at 6am in the morning, not was there a shuttle bus parked outside when we left who refused to let us board but when Tom arrived he was in a mini bus so what was the issue with collecting us from our hotel. In total we ended up paying twice for our holiday as its height of the season and this hotel is charging 4 star rates for a 2 star product. It would have been great to think that they appreciate the hotel is below standard and offer to transfer our payment to the other hotel but as they wouldn’t help us out I feel we should share our appalling experience. I have worked in the hotel industry for over 25 years in all grades of hotel both UK and overseas so do not feel my expectations to be too high.
I am now waiting for a response from Thompson which is due back to us on the 17th August we have also written to watchdog.

Spent a week at this hotel with my daughter. Had a third floor room with a balcony facing the front of the hotel (west) - this worked well as we had the sun later in the day and it enabled us to dry swimming costumes etc.. There was noise from the road (to the side) but it didn't bother us as we overlooked the fountain and well maintained gardens. I was also really impressed with the quick response I got from the hotel when I emailed the day before I travelled out to Italy requesting a change of room from a double to twin bedded room - I received a very polite reply confirming this would be taken care of. The pool area was great as everything you needed was close. We did queue briefly in the morning to get a good lounger but no-one was allowed in the area until 9:00 and as long as we got there just before we were fine. The outside bar is great with a wide choice of refreshment throughout the day including afternoon tea and cake at 4pm. The food was much better than we expected with plenty of choice - the fresh salmon was cooked to perfection and I really enjoyed the choice of salads. The hotel itself was peaceful with plenty of places to relax and although quite small (which we liked) it didn't feel particularly crowded, other than by the poolside. Staff in the hotel were very friendly and accommodating, always ready to help. It was extremely hot when we were there and we appreciated the bottle of water left in our room fridge daily. Getting into the centre of Sorrento was easy as the hotel courtesy bus runs regularly - however it does stop between 12:00 and 3:00 pm so if used, bear this in mind. All in all we had a lovely time and were very happy with our choice of hotel.

Room Tip: A room with a balcony offers more space.
