My wife and I stayed here for a week at the end of three weeks in Italy.
Sansepolcro is a charming village without the challenges inherent in a hilltop village such as Cortona where you have to park further away, and getting to and from your lodging is up a hill. In Sansepolcro the terrain is easy and this apartment is quite central. Parking is less than 200 metres away and on arrival we drove to the apartment entrance, dumped our bags, and then parked in a large car park outside the village walls.
Nor is it so crowded as Siena where decent parking is likely to be a long way from the city centre.
Because we were here in the middle of winter we had the apartment to ourselves, so we had the downstairs apartment with ensuite bathroom, and kitchen/dining area, which opens through French doors to the yard.
Our apartment was toasty warm, and yet because the exterior walls are about 2 feet thick I image it would be pleasantly cool in summer.
As much as possible we immersed ourselves in the rythm of the village. Our regular morning coffee haunt was up the street and turn right towards the square/piazza and the coffee shop is just there on your right after the information centre.
If we had dinner in town we scheduled to eat after 7.30 pm and there are some very excellent restaurants here. Our three favorites were Da Ventura, Osteria de Poeti, and Ristorante Fiorentino.
We have also posted a photo of a deli that we used many times. There are a number of delis here but this one had good products- cheeses, meats, olives, wines etc, but also the owner, while he had no English, was excellent to work with and while we had no Italian, we managed to get what we wanted each time. We liked his style. A great sense of humour and a steady clientelle. As far as we can make out the shop is called Pizzacheria. To find him, again go up or down Via Firenzuola which is the street the apartment is in, go one block closer to the main square, and turn right, going several blocks until just after the Doppleganger store and there he is.
Ok, back to our apartment. While the owners weren't there in the middle of winter, they have an English couple who live locally who facilitated our arrival, care and departure.
There is everything in the apartment you could need, and furthermore, Sansepolcro is a great base from which to travel to other centers such as Siena, Montepulciano, and Cortona.
The rooms are spacious and the bed really comfy. We liked staying here and will gladly do so again.
This stay represented excellent value for money and we both very heartily recommend it.
Because we found it on recommendations from others who had stayed here, we know the value of such recommendations. For a couple such as us this was a perfect stay, but the apartments also appear to cater for families, with lots of activities for kids on a raining day.
