Lovely hotel with a great location nearby the old town and 5 minute walk to boat harbour. The room had mountain view, it was very clean, air-condition and wifi worked without problems. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the breakfast was great and had everything needed. All this is crowned with the wonderful terrace and peaceful garden / pool area. This hotel provides excellent value for your money.

When we arrived at the hotel, I was very excited. The villa is stunning inside and out. The pool is fantastic and so is the restaurant except for the wine by the glass. There is only one per color and it wasn't good.
On the day we arrived, we rushed to the pool to relax in this beautiful setting looking at the mountains. It was fantastic. On the second day, we wanted to do the same after visiting the town of Riva. However, that afternoon a father and his two rowdy children came to the pool. He didn't really seem like a hotel guest but like someone who knows someone who works there. This hotel is absolutely boring for children and so all they could do was jump into the pool. All guests laying around the pool very jolted out of their relaxation. There was no way of sleeping or reading anymore. Everyone stared at the guy but he showed no intent of telling his kids to be quiet. Down by the lake there is plenty for kids. I don't get why he chose to come to a hotel where 60% of the clientele is seniors and the other 40% is couples. And to top it all off, he lit a cigarette! No one else was smoking and there are no ashtrays but somehow he knew where to get one. That's why I think he knows someone who works there.
If the hotel insists on not being an adult-only hotel, which it would be perfect for and most people would pay double in that case, it would be great if they could at least make the pool a 'quiet area' (no jumping, no music, etc).
The hotel itself is non-smoking but they don't seem to be very strict about it as some worker lit a cigarette in the lobby.
This hotel has so much potential, I wish they would use it better.
The breakfast is fantastic. Not sure why they call it continental breakfast. I guess continental breakfast means something different in Europe than in the US. Anyway, it was a buffet with a great variety of options.

We are just back from Riva and had a fabulous holiday staying in the hotel with our five children. The hotel is well located in the town and has the added advantage of a pool, great restaurant and a lovely outdoor eating area. The staff were exceptional attentive and it has a nice 'boutique' feel to the hotel.

A lovely hotel with an "old times"-feeling. Nice old furniture, very peaceful. Lovely views to the lake and mountains. Very friendly staff. Good breakfast with large variety - especially loved the fresh fruit salad! Always sun beds available by the pool. Location is great, just a few meters to old town and also the pathway to Bastione.

In our room the toilet was quite small and a bit dated, but it didn´t bother us.

I rarely pile on when I see that the reviews are overwhelmingly favorable, but we liked the hotel a lot ("lots to like"), and i couldn't resist. The staff were great, very helpful and friendly. Riva is full of Germans, with a few Swiss thrown in for seasoning, and the Miravalle reflected this population distribution. Accordingly, breakfast had plenty of cheese and meat choices, but also eggs and good pasty choices. Our room was large, and the bath was more than adequate. What set the hotel apart is the setting, near the old wall with views of the massive mountains. As noted in all the reviews the hotel is a convenient short walk to the center of the old part of the town. The bottom line is that we would definitely go back to the hotel in the future for a longer stay (we had a two night reservation).

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Welcome to Villa Miravalle, My name is Michele Marchi Vidi, and I am the owner of the Hotel Villa Miravalle. It is with great pleasure that I recount the centuries-old tradition of this hotel, which for four generations has been managed by my family, having been created in the early 1900s by my great-grandparents. Time has not eroded the antique fascination of the late nineteenth-century villa nor the enchanting beauty of the gardens, with their centuries-old palms and olive trees, or the elegant comfort of the spacious terrace dotted with citrus trees and climbing plants in a variety of hues. The imposing building nestles undisturbed among the ancient medieval walls which surround the historic centre of Riva del Garda, giving splendid views of the placid waters of the lake, known in ancient times as Lake Benaco. A similar spell is cast by the works of Aldo Raimondi, a distinguished painter who was a regular visitor to the Villa during the 1940s. His works are displayed in the Hall of the Hotel, and document many of the aspects of life in the Villa, and offer glimpses of the building from different perspectives. The long history of the Villa goes hand in hand with another splendid moment: the opening of the Villetta Annessa restaurant, which was modelled on the famous "Girarrosto" restaurant which in the 1960s was awarded a Michelin star. The recent renovation of the Villa underlines a passion that has never abated and a strong desire to create an atmosphere of serenity in which guests can enjoy the familiar smells of meat grilling in the enormous fireplace and the delicate scents of the flowers wafting in from the gardens. The Hotel is close to a number of sporting facilities in the Basso Sarca valley for the delight of cyclists, climbers and other sporting enthusiasts. The Villa has its own vital energy, and its long history and unique atmosphere are jealously guarded as if in a casket, which we will be delighted to open for our guests so that they can add their own memories. I hope to see you soon! Michele ... more   less
