I recently travelled with the Travel Department (Ireland) to the wonderful town of Riva Del Garda in Italy. From the moment of arrival there was a feeling of Welcome from the staff. A warm smile and very fast check in indicated that this is a well run Hotel.

The room was excellent, it felt like I was the first person to stay in it. Really clean and fresh. Excellent and quiet air-conditioning system made the room very comfortable and I was impressed with the comfortable bed and Irish 3 pin electrical sockets. Rooms were cleaned daily with very friendly staff who smiled and didn't mind coming back later if the cleaning time didn't suit. Each room has an interesting and very modern electronic system for room lighting, window shutters and air conditioning, I was very impressed !
The breakfast was excellent and provided fresh fruit, croissants, omelettes of your choice, cereal, bacon, scrambled egg. We were asked to tick a menu for our evening meal at breakfast. The waiters / waitresses in the dining room were excellent in every way. Nothing was too much trouble and they also engaged in friendly chat when serving coffee.
Dinner was very good, I really enjoyed my choices and although I didn't eat at the hotel every evening this was because I wanted to sample some of the local restaurants. Interestingly I heard a couple guests complaining about their choice of dinner and I soon realised they also complained about the weather, the length of time it took to come from the airport etc. Some people are never satisfied, they pretend they are used to 5 star deluxe and nit pick at every opportunity, when the truth is they are just unhappy people who are only happy when they get attention by complaining.
The Grand Hotel Liberty is an excellent Hotel in every way. Amazingly clean, friendly, great attention to detail in everyway from the gardens to the pool and spa. The Travel Department are amazing and provide a wonderful package for their clients. Everybody must go to Riva Del Garda one day to experience this Hotel and Amazingly beautiful Town. I can't wait to book my next trip back to Riva and the Grand Hotel Liberty.

Room Tip: The renovated rooms are wonderful and modern

My initial impression of the hotel was not good. The room we were offered was tiny, shabby and with little natural light. We complained and eventually the helpful staff moved us to one of the refurbished rooms. These are excellent with plenty of space, good light and modern facilities. The rooms even had some UK style sockets. In terms of rooms then this hotel ranges from one star to near five.
Breakfast was quite good; there's something for everyone and plus marks for the egg station doing fresh omelettes to your preference.
Evening meals in the restaurant were disappointing. The chef unfortunately has decided that presentation is more important than taste or competent cooking with instagram prioritized over culinary excellence .The selection of salads was derisory. In fairness they offer to cook something to your taste if you don't like what is on the menu and many people seemed to be eating steak and chips!
The outdoor pool is fine and the spa facilities excellent. Annoying that you have to pay for robes and towels for the spa.
The best thing about the hotel is the staff. They were polite and helpful throughout our stay and deserve the highest praise. The hotel is cleaned to high standards.
Free Wi-fi was intermittent in the room but fast in public areas.
Overall a good place to stay but just ensure you have a modernized room.

Room Tip: Refurbished rooms excellent -old rooms extremely poor.

This is our third time back to this hotel & we love it. The staff are fantastic from the reception staff, restaurant staff & even the maids. The hotel has two pools one indoor & one outdoor with stunning views of the mountains. The food is great & you're just minutes from the lake & the shops. I would absolutely recommend this hotel.

Beautiful hotel and grounds. Dining superb. Our room 321 mezzanine was perfect. Location great for exploring Riva on foot and the lake. Couldn't fault it. Was my first visit. Hopefully will not be my last.
