The hotel was on a steep incline but the views were spectacular over the lake.Visiting other parts of the lake was very easy by boat. The staff were very friendly and polite and went out of their way to assist. The food in the resturant was of a very high standard and the resturant staff were very pleasent.Being on a incline the manager provided a mini bus shuttle service morning and evening for those who didnt want ot walk to the centre. The whole hotel was very clean and the rooms were spacious and well furnished for a three star. In the evening the views over the lake were wonderful .The pool area was well furnished by sun beds,my only sugestion would be to get some sun parasols as there was very little shade and it was very hot.Thankyou to the Benacus for a lovely holiday.

Room Tip: ask for lake view.

We arrived at the Benacus with a Travelsphere group on the 22nd June 2011 to visit the
Opera Festival which was wonderful. Because we were with a group we were not offered the a la carte menu, and we thought the selection we were given was poor, too much pork, larded Pork one evening and Pork escalope on three other evenings so we went out for two evening meals. Also because the Benacus is up a very steep hill and then a walk of approx 1 km into Riva I would have thought the courtesy bus would be available on a more regular basis, It only goes down to the Marina in the morning and then back in the evening. Could also do with small fridge in the rooms.

Room Tip: don' t take a room in the attic

IN reference to yopur comments on our hotel I would like to point the following:
all groups at the Benacus have the same service as privete guests who book halfboard That is a choice of 5 starters and 4 maincorse dishes.
It goes without saying that a choice of menu as such offers alot more than pork dishes.
The a la carte menu is given only to private guests who book bed and breakfast and pay extra for their evening meal.
As regards the minibus service the times etc.are cleary stated in the Travelsphere brochure

We were part of a largish Travelsphere group visiting mainly for the Opera in Verona, (which was just wonderful). It was very nice to be away from the main area of Lake Garda, and not difficult to travel around. The food in the hotel was very good, especailly the evening meal. Moro the head waiter (there were only 3 staff) will work himself to death if he's not careful!! Nothing was too much trouble, and Jani and Natasha were delightful, but Marco the Manager needs to learn a few things only several occations people in the group we told that something or other was for 'paying guests', so not sure what we were! I felt each time I looked at him I could see Euro signs in is eyes! Having paid a bar bill of 170euro for 6nights he would not let me have any ice with a bottle of water I had bought from him for 2.80 euros! Infact he seems to be paronoid about anyone bringing any thing of there own into the hotel to drink. We have travelled the world and this is the first time we have had this problem, and for that reason we would not return to Benacus.

As this comment refers to me personally I would like to state my point of view.
As manager I personally choose and organize the staff and I am very plased that my guests are very satirfied with the service they are given.
Many clients infact comment that they recieive a 4 star hotel service in a 3 sta hotel.
We do not allow our guests to bring theyr own drinks into the dinig room and neither to we give ice to our guests to use to add to their drinks which they keep in their bed room.
We try to give an excellent service to all our guests wheter they book trough a travel agency with a group or privately.
A bottle of water may seem expensive in any hotel but one must take into consideration all the costs that the hotel has to undertake.
All our drinks including water and wine are the same or similar to hotels in the area.

We stayed at the Benacus as part of a Travelsphere tour group. The hotel is in the foothills of Mount Brione so there is a steep walk but fine for the able bodied, and the height means there are great views over Riva Del Garda. The hotel was about a kimometre from the centre of Riva, and slightly further to Torbole, both a very pleasant walk along the lakeside. Our room was in the eaves of the hotel with a sloping ceiling, so tall people may need to be careful, but OK for two shorties! The room was clean with a good shower room, and a balcony. Food was very good: a buffet breakfast in the morning with yoghurts, various tinned fruit, cereals, juices, bread and rolls, scrambled eggs and fresh eggs for boiling, and bacon, coffee or DIY tea. In the evening the breakfast bar became a salad bar, and we then had a three course meal with a choice of dishes, all very well cooked. Wine prices were reasonable, from 12.50 euros for the house wine, which was fine. Staff were polite and helpful. I would certainly recommend the Benacus.

Room Tip: Beware low eaves in top floor rooms
