The hotel is okay. The room was average: really bad mattress and the bathroom is small and some things are loose (shower door and holder). On the hallway there was a cigarette smell. Apart from that, the staff is really friendly as they gave us a romantic gesture: filled the bed with flower peddles. Breakfast is good and free parking next to the hotel. Hotel is 5min drive from city centre.

In Riva del Garda we stayed in the Hotel Rudy. This is a well-run and well-maintained hotel. It has a lift and free on-site parking. We had a nice, comfortable room with a good bathroom and a minute ('Juliet') balcony. I later found that my sister's room had a full balcony for the same price. There is busy road in front that was noisy in the day but not at night. The rear rooms have a much better view, but are more expensive. There was an extensive breakfast included. The staff on reception have only limited English and this is typical around Riva where most tourists seem to be German, Austrian or Swiss.

There is a bus stop right outside the hotel but the service is very limited. As far as I could work out, the last bus from Riva is at around 4 pm - not very useful if you want to have dinner in town. Cruising taxis seem to be non-existant.

One negative about the room was that there was a single available power point in the bathroom and none at all in the bedroom. Now that almost everyone has phones and/or cameras that constantly need recharging, this seems ridiculous. Maybe this wouldn't matter to you but for me it was a serious nuisance.

Room tip: Ask for a full balcony

Hotel looks nice from the outside, but all employees including reception, staff were unfriendly and bordering on rude. Hotel rooms are clean and seem like you are sleeping in an IKEA store. The fire alarm went off and as we were evacuating, a staff member said it was a false alarm. It then went off again and everybody evacuated and we could see black smoke and fire pouring from a window on the third floor. No staff members were in sight. We had to call the fire department ourselves, they told us the staff had not called at all. Finally the fire department arrived, it was an electrical fire that destroyed a room. The next morning at reception, the staff told us they are not required to report fires in just one room and were again extremely rude. I would never stay in this hotel. Fires happen, but the manner in which they handled it, was unacceptable.

Dear Stefan and Amy,

regarding your e-mail we suggest you to cancel your review on Tripadvisor and not to communicate anything to other, because what you say is not real and we will initiate a case against you for damaging Hotel's image. We have police and firefighters records and photos where there is no version of what you declare. You know that in every area of the hotel there are smoke detectors and at the beginning there is a first alarm giving the possibility to the staff to check what's happening.
The smoke coming out of the room was nothing else than the overheating of the air exchange valve and the plastic discharge created smoke and dark grey colour, doing as by protocol using the fire extinguisher the problem was immediately resolved and, opening the window door, the smoke could get out of the room but inside black dust has been deposited on the floor and furniture.
So as by protocol there was no need to call fightfighters because it was just a problem which could be solved by the staff. You called the fightfighters, who came with 6 people only to see that we had already done all what was necessary. The room was not destroyed and guest had their things washed and ironed and not burnt or destroyed as you said. After the cleaning, two days later other guests occupied the same room.
We are sorry if you think that we are rude, but you made things bigger than they were.
We suggest you to remove the review and not to insist to declare false things otherwise we will put our lawyers in practice.

Best regards
Luca Betta

Very pleased with both the Hotel and Quality of staff, most helpful in every way. Spent 6 nights here and unlike most guests was not a sportsman, but a granddad with his 6 and 4 year old granddaughters.
It was great had the pool to ourselves all day plenty of sunbeds, and were joined by the sportspeople in the evening who were very friendly.
A little away from the lake as stated but not a problem as really good restaurants nearby and better priced.
Only thing I would point out is that although the breakfasts were of good quality with plenty of choice, the evening restaurant is no longer.
My family and I had a great trip and will return and recommend.
PS. English is not a Problem. Best wifi ever.

Room tip: Just visit its great
