Poseidon is an amazing hotel in the heart of Positano. Myself and my wife attended here in mid October for our honeymoon, and this was a last minute decision from advice on friends to stay in Positano over further away Sorrento, and we're glad we made that choice.

It is quite honestly, perfectly located in Positano. To clarify for those who are thinking of going that have never been: It is centrally located in the middle of the town. Close enough to easily walk downwards to "downtown" and the beachfront within a matter of a few minutes, but also easy enough to walk upwards to access the Amalfi Coast transit system and other restaurants.

We upgraded our room from our Expedia prepaid package deal on check-in at a very reasonable price and was awarded with a fantastic view from the 4th floor - highly recommended in our opinion. The views from our terrace were outstanding, and pictures don't even do it justice. The room was pretty large considering the area and we had lots of room to relax. Also, the terrace was very private with stone walls blocking our neighbours, but not enough to take away from the view.

The restaurant within the hotel - Il Tridente - was actually one of the better dinner restaurants out of our entire stay (7 days) in Positano. The dinner chef recommendations changed daily and everything was very fresh and flavourful. We actually ate there twice during our stay instead of the originally planned 1 visit. As far as the breakfast that's included with your room, it's fantastic. A rather large variety, and the included Ceasar (or bloody mary in the US) bar was welcomed. Obviously can't speak for the competition but I'd say in confidence the breakfast ranks up there.

The service was second to none. These people - from the front desk, to the bar staff, to the restaurant staff - get to know you. You feel warm and welcomed at all times. Within a matter of two mornings the staff had our room number memorized, knew our names, and asked what our plans were for the day and made some recommendations. The front desk staff/concierge was extremely helpful with us first timers to the Amalfi coast, and helped us daily with things like taxi services, bus schedules, things to do, etc. Again, second to none service.

In summary, I'm sure it will be a long time before we return to the Amalfi area (there's a lot of other places to see in this world) but if we do, we would hands down select this hotel again. Warm welcoming friendly service, a great restaurant, positioned perfectly in the town, and great views. Thank you Poseidon for making our honeymoon a memorable one.

Jeff & Sabrina

Room Tip: I think it goes without saying the higher the better, our 4th floor had great views.

Poseidon has a good location with the town centre just a few minutes walk away and hip restaurants around the hotel. The service is discreet and prompt - the staff is eager to help and make us comfortable in their hotel. There is a lot of personal touch in the hotel from the owner family side which adds to the comfort and homely feel. The rooms are large and with a balcony over looking the town - the bougainvillea creepers add to the pretty and charming look. The breakfast is also displayed in an organised fashion. The outdoor terrace seating of the restaurant is also very soothing and charming.
This is a no frills and simple yet extremely charming hotel offering all services to make for a relaxing experience in Positano....

Room Tip: room with a balcony is a must for the city

Poseidon is a beautiful hotel with spectacular views from the rooms and pool/dining facilities!! It was a true pleasure staying at this hotel. After 3 weeks around Italy this was by far the stand out.
There was a mix up with my online booking but the staff (particularly Margherita) could not have been more helpful and accommodating, and made all the new arrangements for me so I barely lifted a finger! The mix up had the potential to leave me a bit stranded but they went above and beyond to ensure all worked out well and they were so lovely to deal with.
Throughout my 4 days there all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful...absolutely top notch for service.

The "funny rooms" have sensational roof top terraces, so although they are slightly smaller than standard rooms, they are well worth it for the joy of walking out onto that terrace.

Positano is very small so everything is walking distance. There is quite a steep walk to the beach but I think it is far better being up at the level Poseidon is for the views, so for me the location was ideal.

I would return to this hotel in a heart beat!

This was our fourth stay at Poseidon and it is was just as enjoyable this trip as on our first visit. Even though it rained for the three days we were in Positano, we particularly felt that we had the opportunity to enjoy the hotel like we hadn't in the past. The old world charm of the hotel and the staff make us feel like we are experiencing the Amalfi Coast the way you see in movies or old pictures. The staff is gracious, welcoming, and always make us feel like family. Angelo greets us as if we were members of his family. This trip we ate in the hotel restaurant and the food was superb. Additionally we took advantage of the spa and again the staff and services live up to the Poseidon's high standards. Try to visit between September and October as this is the best time to experience the water around Positano. A truly remarkable and unique hotel.

we stayed at Poseidon the beginning of september. what a wonderful experience, great staff, including Samir. he knows all the ins and outs of Positano. great added value is the (3 x a week) boattrip, cruising along the amalfi coastline, with Enzo, your Captain. swimming, lunch and great views included. The hotel itself has a certain peace and quiet armosphere, with guests who appreciate the same. would definitely go there again, rooms are tiny
