Cozy and peaceful restaurant with great food and enthusiastic owners. We got to see one of the giant truffles they had collected from the area. Lots of good dishes, - including some with truffles (tartufo).

Our dinner at the Duca did Orvieto was unforgettable. The staff had such an obvious commitment and passion for the food they were preparing and serving. We started with the most interesting bruschetta we have found in Italy so far. Our pasta was homemade Umbrichelle with Grappa and Gorgonzola, which was delicious. Then we had one of their specialties, Chicken with Lemon and Chestnut Honey. This was the best chicken we have ever eaten. We finished the meal with the "Semi-Fredo," a cross between custard and ice cream, along with homemade Limoncello and homemade Nocino. It was the prefect finish.

I was SOOOO happy to have found this place. My husband and I were immediately intrigued by the idea of using recipes that have been around for centuries. We ordered the bruschetta, the truffle pasta and the chicken. All were amazing, but the pasta, AH. I have never in my life had anything like that -- I will forever dream about this pasta. The woman who owns (?) the restaurant was also so lovely. This place just somehow felt magical and perfect. I hope to one day get back here and I will never forget this meal.

I was so lucky to find this culinary gem. What I found was not just excellent, tasty food, but a passionate team of women making food based on centuries-old recipes. Do you want to find out what the Italian nobels ate in the 16th century, during the Renaissance? Well, here you can try it yourself. This is a unique experience not to be missed. And it's not just the food, but the warm and personalized service. They make you feel so home that you never want to leave. The young (and very beautiful) sous chef also speaks fluently English, and she provided great recommendations for choice of meals and pairings, based on your preferences. If you consider yourself a foodie, this is an absolute must when visiting Orvieto. I just hope they have a table for me, next time I'm in town!

My description of this meal will not begin to capture how special it was. The restaurant is part of the Slow food movement and the recipes are historical. The owner makes her own cheese, her own Limoncello, her own Amari from her own walnuts, the ragu of wild boar doesn't have tomatoes because the recipe is from before Christopher Columbus discovered tomatoes in the new world. The pasta is all homemade - mine had cacao in the dough and was filled with homemade ricotta and orange zest, my son had carbonara with truffles that were shaved as thick as mushrooms. It is a beautiful restaurant and the women who work there are incredibly warm and kind. We are on day 9 of a two week trip through Italy and Spain. We have dined at some of the best restaurants in Rome and my son said this was by far his favorite dining experience of the trip. If you are in Orvieto for only one meal - this is where you should go.
