Pane Vino & Zucchero
Ranked #3 of 100 Restaurants in Montepulciano
Price range: US$12 - US$23
Description: Pane vino & zucchero is not a restaurant , but rather a " cucineria " which is a place where you eat well, drink and enjoy yourself with your friends and family . The word perfectly describes our eatery where we warmly welcome our guests and share with them this traditional Tuscan philosophy. Here you will taste a simplified version of our local specialities, served with a new modern twist whilst still respecting the culture and traditions of the food from this area of Italy and above all using seasonal products . The result of our unique formula is that we have chosen to offer you a menu where you eat well on a fair budget whilst sharing good food with us and your friends and family in an intoxicating environment.

Me and my girlfriend, both a little bit tired of the very traditional Tuscan restaurants, found this place on Tripadvisor. It just opened. We very satisfied with both the food and the service. We had tomato soup, salad, tripe, ravioli, baked beans and grilled vegetables. The soup and tripe were extra tasty. We skipped wine and went with local ales. Prices a bit lower than up on Main Street and food just as good or better. Recommended.

This place has only been open two weeks but is amazing. We had a great meal, the food was as good as anything I've had. The service was top notch, we were made to feel welcome and at home.
We will definitely be back. It was amazing value for money.

The food in Tuscany is wonderful but after two weeks of eating out and enjoying the great cuisine, the menus did become rather repetitive. It was great to stumble across this place, just slightly off the main thoroughfare, and to be able to experience something a little different! There is no outside seating, and the interior is simply furnished, with table numbers painted onto table tops. The menu is fairly limited, and it is a relaxed place where you have no need to worry about selecting the usual antipasti, primi, secondi and so on. Just choose what you fancy! Food was great, and service excellent.
We hadn't realised it was newly open (we were there on only its second night) but we enjoyed it so much we ate there twice during our stay. We were welcomed with a generous plate of antipasti (free -not sure if that was a treat for the first week?) and lots of smiles! It's a family-run enterprise, and I hope it goes from strength to strength.

My only (slight) criticism is that the English version of the menu describes the dishes rather simply and doesn't always do the dishes justice. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for an alternative to the standard tourist fare!
