Terrible Place

Review of Hotel Nedy
1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 16 May 2019via mobile
I spent 2 weeks on a business trip here. There was no wifi service for 5 days.
A lot of noise coming from the first floor to early in the mornings and also during the nights, everything can be heard inside the rooms and it is impossible to sleep.

We have stayed in this area many times but usually nearer Marina di Massa. Only booked at the last minute and paid 750 euros for 7 nights stay Bed and breakfast. Check in good and fast. Rooms all seem to be on one side of hotel with small balcony, Rooms and bathrooms clean but very, very small.

Hardly any room between the bottom of bed and chest of drawers approx 12ins. Bathroom very very compact. Adequate but kept hitting the door as I tried to turn round. Lovely fluffy clean towels every day and room cleaned daily.

Staff were excellent and very helpful!!

However the main concern was the breakfast!!
Apparently this cost us 100euros for the week although having booked this through Booking.com there did not appear to be any option whether we had it or not. If you get the option don't have it. It is awful!! At the beginning of the week we were concerned because breakfast is served in a marquee which in itself is ok but because one side of this is open lots of flies and insects circulate.

It consists of hams ,cheeses tinned fruit, croissants we saw on one day, cake, cereals which looked far from appetising in huge containers, plain yoghurt in an open bowl and toast, There was some fresh fruit in a bowl but the same old oranges seemed to appear day after day. My main concern was that nothing but the cake was covered and flies were landing on all the food
One day we saw an earwig on the bread for toast so that put paid to that. After the first day we had nothing but cake every day (because it was covered) and some coffee from a machine which in itself was not good. One hundred euros for this is robbery!!! One day there was a conference on in the hotel and the cakes and pastries looked better than we were having for breakfast and they were kept indoors!!

Serious issues with the breakfast. It looks like they are trying to save money at my expense!!

The hotel quite hard to find and is set back from the beach. You need a car to get anywhere as there is nothing around, or you can use the free bikes as we did but beware many of the brakes do not work, they are rusty and virtually none have lights. A little bit of money needs to be spent here also to update them.

There is a very small gym with 4 pieces of eqipment but this is in an airless room in the cellar as are the conference rooms

There is a small pool with loungers and deck chairs but again there are some issues here. There are a lot of trees around and we did see someone midweek cleaning the pool although never looked too good but the area around it for example the shower area and some the deckchairs are dirty and were not cleaned all week and were covered in soil and leaves.

It doesn't need much. I believe this hotel was renovated 4 years ago. It needs some money spent on it and standards need to be maintained.

The last review says it's a gem. I think far from it!

Try Hotel Luna in Marina di Massa. Less money and I have stayed there and that is a Gem!!

Lovely little hotel, attractive to look at and set in woodland and a quiet residential area, two blocks back from the promenade.

Medium sized room and bathroom which was clean and modern. Small balcony which was pleasant to sit out on during the early evening with a pre dinner drink. Nice restaurant and food OK. Tiny bar area off reception. Small swimming pool at front of hotel. Bicycles available from hotel free of charge.

Turn left out of hotel drive, carry on to traffic lights, turn right and you arrive at a well stocked supermarket which is even open on Sundays. The total walk takes about fifteen minutes (wish we had known about the bikes at the time).
