Great Spot for the money

Review of Hotel Italia
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 14 Mar 2022via mobile
It’s not the Ritz, but this quaint place is super clean, with excellent service and a very charming staff. Directly across from the beach - and the main beach road it can be a bit of road noise, but location makes for that. And the owner is a real gem!

My wife and I were passing through this area and decided to book a nights stay in this grand old looking hotel
I have to agree the place could do with a little spruce up but what it lacks in sparackle it more than makes up in ambience
The building is very grand, our room room 121 was sea facing over looking the terrace it was very authentic high ceilings and shutters on the windows
We loved it
The hotel will give you a bike for the day at no charge so you can cycle around the sea front at your will
We thought what a nice touch
The breakfast was excellent plenty of choice with quality food
All the staff were very friendly especially the owner who was quite a character
To sum up our visit to hotel Italia
Great location excellent service qwerty decor good food.
Well done we will be back
Loved the experience

If you are a travel agent, do not dance with Renzo (the mighty proprietor). He'll step on your feet right from the start. First of all he'll be all smiles and hugs and later on he'll stab you in the back. Watch out for the rates he gives you. If you don't confirm the numebr of persons he thought you should bring he'll try and charge you excessively. And after all, it's not much of a hotel. Rooms differ in such a way that clients staying in rooms which are next to each other find it a great sport in comparing the value that they've been given. Some bathrooms won't allow a larger person even turn around in the "showers" while others are "luxorious" and larger than a dog's kennel. Overall it's a trerrible experience. Stay away.

This hotel is old, doesn't have swimming pool etc., but... great location near the beach, restaurants, city center, beautifull and original architecture, great, high rooms with beautiful views from the windows, friendly and helpful service, speaking English and Polish (!) - perfect place to stay!

Room tip: The higher floor yuo stay, the better view you have - sea, mountains or sea & mountains. But without elevator ;)

We had a wonderful stay and experience in Hotel Italia during our most recent stay in August 2017. The entire staff was caring, welcoming and terrific! It is a family run business that takes great pride in making sure all of its guest have a wonderful stay. The views from the balcony are breathtaking. The rich history of this converted residence is astounding. Renzo, Fabiana and Alberto were super and a real pleasure to deal with for our entire stay. It is situated right across a beautiful beach and the pier of Massa.

This is by far the best value and hotel in the area.

Thank you so very much Hotel Italia for being Number 1!

Room tip: Best Views and charming history

Cute hotel with wonderful & friendly staff. Alberto and Mario spoke English and went out of their way to make our visit comfortable and memorable. Enjoyed wine & cheese we brought from a wine tasting on the 2nd floor veranda overlooking the sea. Took recommended excursions: 9:45am ferry to Cinque Terra and another morning visit to marble caves (mines). Many great seafood/pasta restaurants around. La Piniche was recommended by Alberto and it was fantastic.
This was a hidden gem to conclude our 2 weeks in Italy.
