Usually we are reluctant to eat at seaside / main drag restaurants thinking they might be tourist focused with poor food and/or high prices. Hesitantly, we ventured into Sole one evening and were thrilled with our choice. In fact, we returned the next evening. This is a fairly new restaurant with a stylish decor. There is an excellent wine selection. In fact, an impressive glassed-in wine room to explore. The food was very good and the service professional.

Great great great.
The decor, the food (simple no fancyness...but tasty tasty)
The menu is based on the local dishes and products. The pizzas oh mama mia.
Sole has also (the only restaurant on the coast) an historical speciality from Livorno called "farinata"...curious? Go to Sole and taste it.
The winw list is very good, the Restaurant also arranges private wine tastistings with a professional sommelier and wine maker, they have a lovely private "wine room" for tastings or intime meals.
The palce is runned by the Amatruda Family, Gaetano (papa) Lorri (mama) and the 3 daugthers Carolina, Cristiana and the famous Francesca (the F&B manager, and a great bartender...try her cocktails). In the restaurant you can also find Georgina and Toni. Fridays and Saturdays i advice reservations.

We ate here all three nights while in Maiori. Staff was really friendly, including the host who always managed to get us a quick table despite how busy it seemed. Reasonably priced and nice atmosphere, including an outdoor gargen courtyard in the back if the weather is good.

After reading the reviews on Tripadvisor, we decided to give this place a try for dinner. The service was quite rushy, after 5 minutes of seating the waitress was already standing beside us with "Ready?" The food was also prompt - was it freshly cooked or just warmed up? We tried the "farinate" (chickpeas pancake) which was very nice, then I had a Pescatore risotto (with seafood) and my husband Mixed mountain grill (grilled meat). The risotto was absolutely nothing special, very plain rice, well done sea food, not spicy or flavory. Everything is served in fancy glasses and plates, but the plates were cold.
The house white wine had a peculiar smell of aged cheese...
they gave us a simple cheque when we asked for a bill, so much inconsistency (they walk around in golden aprons, all the fancy cutlery...)!
We didn't wait for coffee or desserts.
The problem with the toilet door often left open, described many times here on Tripadvisor, is still not solved in any way.

Dear Costumer, first thing when the waitress asks you if you are ready you can also answer No. We have never ever served anything just warmed up. In Italy that's impossible. About the Risotto, it is one of the chef's speciality and if you don't know in Italy it is not used to cook spicy. If it is asked our staff will bring the chilly seperate. If our Risotto with FRESH SEAFOOD from the Mediterranean sea and with famous grated lemons (always from here) is not flavory for You, then You do NOT know what this word means. The ITALIAN KITCHEN, in particular the mediterranean one is very simple and there is no need to add anything. I don't understand the connection between the house wine and cheese (?????) it's simple wine by draft. What problems do you have with the toilet door? As we have it written in three languages to be closed so it isn't our fault, Anyhow, it is closed when one of our staff passes. In the end, what problems do you still have with the local and the aprons style? Maybe Gold is not your favourite colour?
