This hotel is situated on the outskirts of town very convenient. It is privately owned and the staff are friendly and so accommodating. The rooms were spotlessly clean the beds and towels changed every day and pool towels changed every day. The food was amazing you could even have champagne for breakfast, and there was complementary tea and cake every afternoon. The choice was as good as the quality and they did two themed nights a week. We loved every minute of our stay and will definitely return again. The only downside is a steep slope to the hotel but taken slowly it's manageable.

Room Tip: Rooms over the pool

This was our 21st holiday in Italy and our 7th time at the Lakes.
We've never stayed in a bad hotel but, of course, some were better than others and some were quite special. I would put the Excelsior in that special category.
Friendly, efficient staff, good location, great food, lovely room, excellent outside areas: what more could you ask for?
We thought the staff throughout the hotel were first class: polite, attentive and always with a smile for their guests. They are a credit to the hotel.
We thoroughly enjoyed breakfast and dinner with choices that should please all but the fussiest of eaters. The restaurant is very welcoming and, again, the service was first class.
(If only men would refrain from wearing shorts to dinner: my pet hate but maybe that's just me!)
There are plenty of areas to relax both inside and out and, because it is a comparatively small hotel, it never felt too busy.
We had a superior room located at the side of the building which was very comfortable and of a good size but just a word about "views" and balconies: our balcony was very small with just enough room for a small table and two chairs. The "side lake view" really just means you can see the lake. Our view was mainly of the car park below us and of the very tall, mature trees among which the hotel is built. Even the rooms at the front of the hotel, with much larger balconies, have a restricted view of the lake due to the large trees which grow on the lakeside itself. I would expect all side rooms have a very limited view so just be aware of this if a large balcony and a full lake view are important to you. To be fair to the hotel, the restricted views are mentioned and the layout of the rooms is shown quite clearly on their own website. Don't let this be a deal breaker for you.
I still wholeheartedly recommend the Excelsior as a perfect place to stay in Garda.
We fully intend to return next year!

This hotel excels on many levels. The rooms, the setting, the location, the service and most of all the happy and helpful staff.
Added extras such as complimentary afternoon tea and free pool towels provided for each guest make this a great Hotel. The dining experience was superb, from the excellent varied menu to the changing of the table settings (the cutlery, water glasses, napkins arranged differently each evening) The bar terrace had plentiful comfortable tables and chairs so each guest could enjoy breakfast outside with a view of 'La Rocca'
After a busy day sightseeing it was lovely to spend an hour or two round the pool and sunbeds were always available.
Yes there is a short steep incline from the road to the Hotel.

We stayed at this fine hotel after reading the reviews which we agree were very good.
The staff made an effort to give you a good holiday and were very pleasant to talk to.
The food was very good although you have to get used to the fine dinning type of mains at the evening meal ,but you won't go hungry as you have four courses to get through.
The breakfast was great with plenty of choice.
The pool was very nice with no trouble with getting a sun lounger as the hotel run a no reserving rule. We found the garden on the lakeside and gave it a try but it was not as close as we expected so the pool was our preferred choice.
Our room 332 was a good size but the room sizes differ, the view we had was of the car park but you do not go on holiday to stay in your room although the tv did have bbc1, bbc2 , itv & itv2 if you wanted a early night.
We stayed for a week at the start of August and give this hotel a thumbs up.

Room Tip: Higher floors are best

This was our 7th visit to this wonderful hotel and next year will be our 8th. That says it all really. We have visited with family, with friends and alone. Each time I get that same lovely warm feeling as soon as I walk into the hotel. The staff are friendly and genuinely happy to see you again. It's not a big hotel which we like and suits us but the aspect is great with beautiful views. The bar area is great to sit at and relaxing. Vito and the girls in the restaurant are professional and friendly. The food we think is better than many of the restaurants in town and very reasonable for what you get. You can always find a small niggle somewhere, maybe not enough hangers in wardrobe but I always take extra regardless of where I'm staying on holiday and why spoil your holiday by looking for negatives. The bar gets mentioned for noise down the road and also road noise none of these are a problem once your balcony doors are shut you can't hear a thing. And as for road noise it's a road so expect traffic or stay in a hotel away from the road. Garda itself is a great place to stay for exploring the lake as it's easy to get everywhere around the lake from there. I have stayed in other towns around the lake but Garda is the most convenient .. Looking forward to your return next summer with friends to are eager to return also
Perfecto
