The Bijou is a solid yet well-turned-out white hotel in a quiet corner of Forte dei Marmi. It's only a few blocks back from the beach and a very short ride to the centre of town and its humming restaurants and bars. Our room had a stellar view of suburban Forte dei Marmi and its sweeping lawns, jasmine-lined streets and clusters of Monterey cypress trees. The staff at the Bijou were incredibly friendly and breakfast in the sun on the hotel's front lawn was a great way to kick off the day.

We weren't at all sure what to expect of Forte dei Marmi and were surprised at the residential surroundings of the Bijou (Im the middle of a major storm!). Staff were super friendly, accommodating with dog and children. The family suite was perfect: joined by double doors and each of the rooms with its own small terrace. Everything, including bathrooms, has been recently refurbished. There is an elevator, parking, and a generous garden courtyard at the entrance. There are also bicycles (with full baby seats or small child-perch) for hire, though we didn't make the time for this. Loved their breakfast staff and breakfast layout and will miss the excellent morning cappuccino!

I have been to Forte Dei Marmi many times and this hotel is tucked away. But is only 5 minutes by bicycle from the centre, so perfect for a quiet stay. It's well sized rooms and price make it a no brainer to stay here compared to its very expensive competitors!
