We spent two weeks at the Logos recently and were disappointed with the experience overall. Our room was on the second floor, spotlessly clean with a handy balcony. This provided adequate shelter from the rain ! Towels changed daily. Housekeeping excellent. The pool area clean and attractive as was the hotel in general. We hired bikes from the hotel (which were good value), three times and travelled the promenade easily. Our main concern was both reception and the restaurant. There was no atmosphere in either. The TV wasn't on at all in the two weeks (not that we came for that - and no UK channel on the room TV either), and the piano remained unplayed for the same length of time. I realise this was September and close to end of season but we felt the hotel was running down to seasonal closure almost on purpose. The restaurant and menu has a serious problem however. This also provides no atmosphere, the decoration such as it is is cold and uninviting and could do with a visit from Alex Polizzi to be honest. Had it not been for a party of German holidaymakers arrive during our stay then the menu each evening would have been exactly the same for the entire two weeks. There were choices admittedly but the menu never changed once. The arrival of the coach party prompted a slight change to the monotonous menu by our being offered on occasion (when it suited I think) something different, but surely even at end of season this isn't the way forward is it ? We actually ate out three times even though we were half board.. It seems the hotel are trying to do away with half board and rely solely on B and B basis for the future. I have to say that the restaurant staff were superb, especially Sebastiano, Yisse and Eliza. 10 out of 10 to them from us.
Restaurants outside the hotel are expensive, as is almost everything else in Forte. Great if you love fish I guess but Italian pasta dishes well off most menus for some odd reason.
Taxi fares to Viarreggio, local station etc grossly expensive. Better to go by bike if you can !!. Pietrasanta a much better resort with reasonably priced bars and restaurants. We had two cocktails there for 5 euros each. 12 euros upwards on average everywhere else.
I admit the weather we had didn't help but I can honestly say this is a fair and unbiased review. The Logos must do something about the meals in the evening and decor in the restaurant. It is a lovely hotel, small and very quiet which is excellent. Limited cupboard space in the Classic Double room but that's just a minor point really.
Have seen and done the Tuscan coast now. Would be over generous to recommend.
