Only stayed one night, on our way from the ferry from Barcelona to Rome.
Very clean, staff very helpful. No in-house tea or coffee-making, but 5Euros pp at the restaurant solved that.
However, plastic cups, and not glasses.
I thought only Ibis had plastic cups these days.
Please fix this!

Mercure- spend some money! This is a little goldmine potentially- spectacular location overlooking the ocean and marina, large airy rooms with most having gorgeous views, and fabulous staff only too willing to help ( big shout out to the lovely Carmen who is a real asset to the Sunbay)
Breakfast is again potentially great, but items quickly ran out and were not replaced- no glasses, no cups, no spoons!
Pre cruise for one night it was fab, but Mercure you could have a cruisers perfect place if you just took the time, fixed the rooms ( shoddy paintwork, poor shower, balcony doors that were sticking) put a hotel shuttle on to the centre of Civitavecchia as you are quite a way out for choices of dining and bars in the evening and we thought €20.00 for a taxi was extortionate!! But €5.00 to the Cruise port the next day was a bargain!
Would we return? Absolutely, but we would expect a major overhaul from Mercure to bring out its full potential-

After reading the reviews its clear this hotel has only recently become part of the Mecure chain. I booked this hotel at 10pm at night as my boat was two hours delayed.

The room had an excellent view of the ocean, things were just not to the usual Mercure standard, no plug sockets in the room for charging appliances without unplugging bed side lights, the shower cubical was not smooth operating, all minor things but enough to mention in a review, i am sure with time Accour will sort this place out, as it has so much potential, it was clean, the breakfast was vast and good quality. and the price i paid under 50 euros it was good value for money, 4 stars! some way to go to get it up to the standard required

Room Tip: A sea view is a must, fantastic sunrise

Travel agent booked on wholesalers recommendation for Pre cruise stay.
Totally not suitable to walk to port as over 3k away and road not suitable. Taxi/shuttle from rail station 20 euro for 3k trip. A rip off. Hotel now a Mercure 4star - definitely not. 2-3 May be. Can see many years ago was a great hotel resort at a great location overlooking marina and ocean however Has been extremely run down and they are trying to do up - just a shame the workmanship is so shoddy and no way up to standard for a Mercure. Staff are very helpful and obliging - that is probably the only thing good about the place. Room size good but bathroom needed ripped out and redone. Check in was 3.00 we arrived at 5.00 pm - room not ready they weren’t very accommodation re this when approached at front desk. Very noisey at night till after 12.00. Would definitely not advise to stay here pre cruise or until place is sorted out further and looking at standard of Reno that may be a few years yet??

Dear Pauline, we are very sorry your stay at Mercure Sunbay Park was not at the high of your expectations. Our location, even if far from the port, is lying directly on the seaside so offers a different kind of comfort to precuisers. We are now experiencing some restyling so we hope you’ll find the property beautifuller and beautifuller in your next stay. Our staff is looking really forward to welcome you again, best regards The Management

The hotel has recently been reopened as a Mercure. We stayed one night before flying from Fiumincino. The hotel is a little way out of town, we had a car so this didn't present a problem. The staff were very good, the hotel was very clean and has great views out to see from all rooms. The restaurant was quiet with a very limited menu but the food was really good. Our only problem was that our visit coincided with a local water polo tournament and the majority of guests that night were young boys from 5 or 6 polo teams. They weren't badly behaved but boys do make noise even when they are behaving nicely. We complained one to the front desk and they quickly spoke to the team coach - perfect.
