The Alps

Overnight with simple stay option

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 13 May 2024via mobile
We stayed in one of the simple stay rooms on the ground floor. The room was clean and reasonably priced. There was a dehumidifier. Private parking and a small garden in front. The lady at the reception said she didn't know if the tap water was drinkable. We left early to get a ferry from Livorno. It was ok for just an overnight.

Trust your online instinct! What a great find!
Best combination of location, heartfelt hospitality, the BIGGEST Italian breakfast I ever came across on a budget!

Yes it is not a modern construction but you can see everywhere, that they are transforming bit by bit the entire hotel.
Our bedroom was very clean and fully functional! The bathroom was brand new!

Breakfast room and outdoor area are spacious and welcoming and the breakfast buffet (off season) still beats by far anything I ever saw in Italy and even beats many breakfast offerings elsewhere in Europe.

Thanks Nicola & team for giving us the feeling like being at home away from home!

We will not hesitate to come back!

A presto! 😍

Room tip: I would opt for the mountain side!

We spent 3 nights here using it as a base to visit Pisa, Lucca and the coastal resorts.
The bedrooms are a bit small but the one we had was clean and functional. The shower room was really a wet room with an efficient shower with curtain around it, but you could touch the wash hand basin and low flush w.c. if you were minded - all very close! Free wi-fi and excellent range of breakfast foods in their dining room. No evening meals served, so you had to go out and seek a restaurant nearby or on the beach front. The gardens were excellent to relax in after an active day with a glass of wine or two, but other guests did not seem to want to take advantage of this facility. Parking in their grounds was a plus as was the street market held every Tuesday right in front of the hotel.

Room tip: Front bedrooms suffer from traffic noise if the double glazed windows are left open. Rear bedrooms are quieter

We really appreciated the warmth and friendliness of the staff. They opened the kitchen early to cook our dinner, on the day we arrived, which we really appreciated as we were tired after the travel. The room is indeed small for two, but it is adequate and quaintly decorated. We were comfortable for a one night stay. What was really appealling was the very helpful staff and the family atmosphere of the hotel. It is great value, too, (certainly compared with other hotels in the vicinity)with a lovely buffet breakfast. I'd happily stay here again.

Location is near perfect for visiting the famous Tuscan tourist locations and then staying almost next to the beach. The hotel room was roomy clean and made up every day. The staff were friendly helpful and always attentive.

Room tip: Booked a family room ( 2 adults 2 children) and stayed in a large family room which was made up of two open joining rooms with shared bathroom, perfect with young children and still retained privacy for the adults. Breakfast was good and with plenty of choice. the hotel had plenty of parking space which is essential near to the beach.

The hotel is run by a Polish family and is near the beach. It was a perfect stop on my route through Italy. The rooms are clean and very inexpesive. The atmosphere is great, parking is also available. And breakfast was quite good. I highly recommend this hotel.
