Gianmarostica
Cremolino, Italy

very quiet, efficient spa hotel close to trendy beaches and unique historical locations in Tuscany

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 21 Sept 2014
Spent here the first week of September with wife and two teenager kids, our overall experience was very good.
Pros:
Spacious rooms with huge picture doors accessing to the well trimmed lawn
Free tennis/football court and gym
Impeccable service from local/professional staff
Abundant and high quality breakfast/snacks
Fully equipped spa with sauna, hot/cold showers, turkish bath, relaxing lounge
Large indoor pool with thermal water
Free wi-fi internet
Easily accessible by car/plane: highway is few km away and Pisa airport is 48 km away
Free and (highly) paid for beaches just 5 min away on foot
Fancy Forte dei Marmi resort is just 3 km away
Fascinating Renaissance locations like Lucca, Pisa and Petrasanta (our favourite) are less than one hour away by car.
Cons:
Slightly pricy, in particular all extras, like private beach, massages, etc. Opt for the "benessere" (well being) package if you want to use the spa.
Small gym with old equipment
Sport facilities and room appliances showing wear; quite noisy AC, luckily not necessary in this period of the year.
Summing up: Ideal for well off, mature tourists looking for a quiet/discreet spa, close to unique Renaissance locations.
Not much in-house fun for teenagers, but lively marine resorts/bars/restaurants are just a few km away.
Originally designed as a luxury structure, rooms and facilities now require some renovation
Definitely recommended.

I always come here before the summer season starts: indoor 20 meters pool+ hot thermal water small pool. Good spa. Sun isn't necessary. Nice to stay in a village waking up for the crowded summer. Beach in a walking distance. Bykes available.

as you say sun is not necessary, but when it is there you can enjoy the day under the trees of our park.
Thank you

We've spent 10 day and were very happy with the facilities of the hotel - sports - tennis, swimming and fitness.

The meals were excellent Adm much more than we were in position to eat :-)

The only negative was the old AC which was noisy. I do believe that the Internet has to be free.

The hotel is located in a beautiful park jus in front of the seafront in Cinquale, near the famous Forte dei Marmi.
The hotel is classified as a 4 stars hotel, but the furniture of the room is as a 3 stars hotel.
The view from the balcony of our room was very relaxing because we can see the wonderful park where the hotel is located. In fact from outside you can’t see the hotel because the trees hide it.
The room was spacious but the bathroom wasn’t so nice but it was big.
The hotel has an indoor swimming pool with termal water and a nice grass lawn in front of the pool.
The breakfast was very poor and when we arrive at 10,00 AM the food wasn’t replaced again because at 10,30 the breakfast will be finished.
It was a very rude and inacceptable conduct of the hotel’s staff!!
It’s not acceptable to have this treatment in a 4 stars hotel!!

We stayed one of Villa Undulna's 2 bedroom apartments. It was fitted out well and was comfortable.

AS per the other review, there is not a great deal going on in the local village so we went to Forte dei Marmi most evenings.

Teh hotel is 50m from the beach, you have to pay for them even though the Hotel has some permanent spaces on one of the beaches; 45 euro per day for 2 deck chairs, lounger and umbrella. I personally thought this was expensive. Further south we found a Municple beach which was 20 euros per day for the same equipment. On my last day I found another for 10euro about 1 km north of the the villa. The public beach was very small, crouded and not as clean as the private beaches.

The Villa was nice and quite a retreat; we had a hire car which felt like the cheapest in the car park. Whilst the grounds were relaxing we could not completly as we had our children with us; it felt more of an adults environment.

In terms of the cost, I was suprised that only the pool was included and even things like the steam rooms were charged for.

I did not sample their food (as an apartment resident breakfast was not even included) so unable to comment.

The Hotel is conveniently located 50 mt from the beach. Nothing much to do around - The little village beside has little to offer and you will have to gravitate towards Forte dei Marmi -
The Spa is very good tha swimming pool generous and the spa waters fantastic. The staff was extremely helpful -
Only downside ; the food at the restaurant was just appalling - very odd for an area that is spoilt with delicious specialites.
maybe because we were visiting "outside season".
