This was our first camping visit (Eurocamp) to Italy as a family. Flights and car hire were pretty straightforward, to/from Pisa. Fortunately, I had taken my own Sat Nav. Camp site was clean and smart, well stocked central store though opening hours could have been less..continental. We could only envy the order, comfort and mod cons of the (predominantly) Dutch clientele's tents and camper vans. Site is built on a rather steep slope. Frank our rep couldn't have been more obliging. Static caravan was a decent size and quiet in our little cul-de-sac.
Lovely walk each evening up to the hill-top village of Castagneto-Carducci. Splendid array of quality eateries there, all reasonably priced from we could see. Lovely views of the Tuscan landscape. Our highlight was probably the day trip by coach to Rome (ask at reception). Car hire meant we could access the fabulous nearby towns, including San Gimignano but Livorno was a mistake. On final day, we set Sat Nav for the Leaning Tower. It took us as directly as possible but unfortunately through prohibited streets (I found this out 6 months later when €70 was debited from my credit card!)
Photo is of us posing as model campers! (no particular reason-but if you spot us in a brochure be sure to let me know.)More
