Worth a Micheline star, talented young chef makes this place a highlight of your visit to Arezzo. Dishes are original, beautifully presented and amazingly tasty - all one may hope to find in a good restaurant. Yet, the place is not pretentious and fairly priced, making it possible to visit with a family or even a pet. Staff is very attentive and friendly, excellent wine list, presentation is a show in itself!
Bistrot 31 is not in the middle of the centre of Arezzo, but certainly worth a visit. It has a good atmosphere and delicious meals, like beet risotto with pear ice cream and duck breast.
What is it with Italian bread, especially Tuscan bread? They can do every other type of food superbly, but the bread doesn't usually even come up to Wonder Bread standards. But I took that all back when we had lunch at this charming if spare little spot just off the Via Corso. Their bread, served warm in a little basket was certainly the best I've had in Italy so far. I only had one course, ravioli stuffed with the local fennel sausage and basil, but was also wonderful. As usual here, our host was genial and professional, suggesting a vegetarian course for my daughter (which was also terrific). Top marks!
