We arrived with a large group, so check-in took longer than expected. They were aware of our arrival and didn't bother to add staff. There were zero bellhop staff which we thought unusual for a 4 star hotel. We dragged our things up to our junior suite on the third floor facing the town square. On arrival we discovered two play pens setup for our little ones, equipped with mattress and bedding. The room was clean and spacious, the bed was reasonably comfortable and the bathroom was well stocked with towels. We had breakfast the next day and it was decent except for the coffee which was the worst we had in Italy. The hotel is located close to everything including a playground which we discovered on our last day.

The Good- Spacious room, great view, central location. Marble and fixtures were very nice. The playpens setup for the kids were thoughtful and comfortable.

The Bad- Light switches made no sense (maybe a euro thing?), bath/shower setup ensures a flood of water on the floor (another euro thing?), safe requires a key (which we didn't get), no laundry service or iron in hotel. No bellhop.

Overall- Decent hotel for the money in a central location. Family friendly, has some nice finishes and views but don't expect the amenities of a 4 star hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front side of the hotel have a great view of the city square.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel as we used it for a base to visit some great restaurants in the local area. The hotel has a relaxed oldy worldy feel but is in need of a bit of modernisation.

The shops in town itself were mostly shut, I guess as it was August, so the only other activity was visiting the hotel's spa. The spa pool was quite modest in size but relaxing and warm from the natural springs. The rest of the spa included a sauna, plunge pool and Hammam with some relaxation areas.

We also visited the very large municipal swimming pool about 5 minutes drive away which was good fun.

Breakfast was ok - sweet breads and fruit juice etc.

The hotel could do with a bit more investment - better wifi, modern hairdryers, better showers in the rooms, but also the hotel isn't overly expensive so we felt we had ok value versus the facilities.

Our room was airy and spacious - room 109.

Overall would recommend for anyone wanting a quiet night or two in acqui terme.

I have no clue how this hotel got to 4 stars. The building itself is great, but furniture was old, hallways smelly and hadn't been vacuumed in ages, room was tiny and filthy - we asked for another one which was a bit bigger but still filthy, beds were horrible, shower was tiny and bathing products consisted of pre-packed soap, breakfast was bad, cappuccino was the worst I ever had in Italy, none of the employees showed the least passion or enthusiasm to work in the hotel and there was no parking - the list goes on... Given all these flaws ca. 100 EUR per night was outrageous. We did not try the spa as we were already put off with the hotel. Never again.

Fantastic and unbeatable value for money and ideally located. I've really liked the overall style and the outside architecture, the rooms except the tiny shower cabin and the bad signal of TV channels, the old coffee shop, the cleanliness throughout, the buffet breakfast (I am vegetarian), the helpful and polite staff and the great Spa ... though you need to pay a €20 extra per person plus at least €70 for one hour massage ! I do not mind paying but it's a bit overpriced especially at low season's and they should look at health package as a half-day spa care and treatments ...

The information leaflet was missing on the room and no price displayed for the minibar drinks and no Wi-Fi code provided as well as bar, restaurant and spa opening hours ! And you need to improve coffee beans quality and reception employee's foreign language skills also (lucky that I speak Italian) These small things are the reason why I gave you only 4 star, look at it as a way to improve things and to reach 5 star next time (I have been three times at Aqui Terme for the past year ...)
I strongly disagree with customers one or two star reviews.

We booked a package including spa, dinner and breakfast.

The spa was OK. Bathrobe and slippers were made available in the room so we had to bring with us only a swimming suit.

Overall, the hotel and the room we were assigned looked in need of a renovation. Old furnitures are old, very small room, the mattress worn out. The soap (mini) bars very cheap.

But the worst part is the restaurant. When we arrived nobody was there to receive us. We stood there, in a huge, empty room with this high columns, waiting to be noticed by somebody. Waiters were running here and there but none of them paid any attention to us until one of them - apparently randomly - pointed a table a said "sit there".

And then the food came! We could not choose an appetizer while we could choose between 2 options for main course and 2 options for second course.
Appetizer: a oven-cooked savory pastry with a dry to tomatoes sauce with vegetables on top. Tasteless.
Main course: maltagliati (pasta) with moscardini tomato sauce. The moscardini were full of sand. Inedible.
Second course: grilled octopus with boiled green beans and potato coquettes (perhaps bought frozen from a cheap supermarket nearby). Tasteless also this one.
Dessert: bunet and panna cotta. Perhaps the only good food we were able to eat.
Last but not least, the service was very unprofessional: apart from the unfriendly reception, for instance, we were offered less options than our neighbors for desserts and, at the end of the evening, we left the room after we heard a waiter saying to another one "hopefully they leave soon". We were very not the only guests left in the room but that made us feel uncomfortable so we left.

I wonder how this place can claim 4 stars....
