This was maybe the biggest challenge during my trip in Italy, because the staff in this restaurant speaks no English at all. However, they were able to show us the offer and we finaly decided. Food was really delicious and for reasonable prices. Worth trying also with coffee and dessert.

Absolutely friendly atmosphere. Food simple and delicious. A nice place to spend the evening with Giulia, Sebastiano and their staff.

We were staying in Abano Terme for only two days. After a disastrous first evening we read about this restaurant on Trip Advisor. Slightly away from the centre of Abano Terme (where most tourists stay), we found that mostly locals appeared to flock to this place. The terrace was absolutely packed save for a few tables that had been reserved. Luckily, there was still room inside the restaurant despite making no earlier reservations.

Even though most members of staff did not speak any English, the waiters were very helpful and patient (since our own Italian could barely be considered basic). Our waiter even went so far as to bring a small plate containing the two types of pasta that were being served that day.

The restaurant (we think) follows an "eat what's on the table" principle. For the first course there was the choice between spaghetti with small tomatoes and anchovies topped with mozzarella cheese; and some sort of small penne with carbonara sauce. The second course was grilled meat. Being in a group of four, we ordered both pasta dishes, a mixed grill, that had been recommended to us by the waiter, and a platter with several side dishes. The mixed grill contained two types of sausages, grilled slices of polenta, and a wonderful roast beef. We understood that normally the plate contains three of each, but the portions were adjusted since there were four of us.

The food was simple, honest and delicious. Scrumptious home cooking generously shared with the restaurants' visitors.

Sadly we did not have the time to stay for dessert or coffee, because we had to leave early in the morning. But we did not receive our bill until we had had a final glass of Limoncello on the house.

Completely stuffed and satisfied, we did get a bit nervous about the bill. Since we had seen no menu, we had no idea what this evening was going to cost us. However, as it turned out, there had been no reason to do so. With €84 euros total it was the cheapest meal for four that we have had in Italy (including a beer, soda and several bottles of water).

If you enjoy fancy dining, a set menu, personnel that speaks English, and hate puzzles (the main type of wall decoration) this restaurant may not be for you, but if you are feeling a bit adventurous this gem is definitely worth a try.

We were taken to this restaurant by friends. We all took pasta to start with and we selected 2 different types. We were all amazed about the pasta alla carbonara. I never tasted it so well prepared. For sure I will return next time. The service is very friendly and prompt.

We tested all the 3 top ranked Tripadvisor restaurants around Abano Terme.
The Dai Tosi (actually #3) is a good adress to get traditional food in a typical Italian trattoria. The service is very nice and engaged (i.e. in translating the menu into English/ German...), the restaurant permanently filled with locals who know and discuss w. each other.

The menu is limited, but we loved what was available (on this Wednesday Spaghetti Carbonara or Bolognese as 1st and sliced Roastbeef as 2nd dish). All was tasty and cooked with enthusiasm!
The prices were very affordable, between 4-10 € for primi platti and 8... 15 € for the 2nd round!

The restaurant needs to be reserved several days in advance!

If you do not get a table pls. also try the Rest./Pizzeria Passaparola in Tramonte 4 km further away, similar good quality and reasonable prices, but more variations on the menu and less crowded!
