Having joined my wife in Grenada after she had been travelling through the Caribbean avoiding resorts, cruise ship locations and determinedly eating and staying locally, we arrived in Barbados full of trepidation as we assumed it would be hard to do all of the above on such a developed island. Especially on the West coast and so close to such a lovely beach like Mullins. So we feel very lucky to have come across Legend Gardens in our trusty Lonely Planet Guide. Owned and run by a lovely local family who live on site and treat all guests as their house guests, taking us to buy food from the local supermarkets and expertly recommending things to see on the island that they had worked out would suit our taste and interests. It’s no wonder that nearly everyone else here are regulars and who have become friends of the owners, Delia and Bird. We have huge respect for them both in maintaining their beliefs in an area in danger of succumbing totally to the developers dollar. What a find - we feel privileged to have met them, heard their stories, shared their hospitality and that of the other guests and have thoroughly enjoyed being part of their family for the last 8 days. Thank you!

What a find you go down a long path full of flowers/palm tree's just off the road way at Mullins Beach. To find The Garden Of Eden, just paradise. You feel at home and the Condo,s are very roomy and full of bright colour's. The bed's are massive and confy. The garden and grounds are well kept. Shaded bits with Gazibo's if you want to read away from the lovely heat. The Swimming pool is tucked away behind Bird & Delia's house {they live in the grounds} making a very tranguill spot away from everything. Loved the chickens in the morning until the monkeys chased them away. So funny. Love it. Bird & Delia are so lovely. I can,t wait to return. Across the road from the path is Mullins beach and a lovely local bar called Shakky. Very friendly and you can hire beds for the day. Also drinks/icecream and crisps. We made it our local. But the fab buses up and down the island well you just jump on and off as you like. Barbados is out of this world. Our whole holiday was just perfect.Been coming for nearly 35 years and will never tire if it.

Room tip: Our room on the ground floor was lovely Room number 1. only 9 rooms in total.

We want to thank Bird and Delia for making us feel so welcome in their home. They truly make you feel like one of the family.
This is as near to living like a local than we have ever done before in Barbados and we loved it.
Bird picked us up from the airport and dropped us off at end of the holiday. He is a prolific story teller!
Nothing is too much trouble ...you just have to ask.
Only slight disappointment is the loss of Mullins, which is one of the reasons we booked this location, but don’t let that put you off. They have made it an exclusive beach club, it’s empty most of the time and vibe has gone completely.
Sadly the beach itself is now ruined due to the storm last year. Dangerous to get in and out of the sea with exposed rocks and lots of shale. There are plenty of other amazing beaches though.
Plenty of repeat visitors here too and for good reason. Great value for money and very relaxing.

My wife and I have stayed here for the last couple of nights and have loved it. The owners are extremely pleasant and chatty and made us feel very welcome. The accommodation is a 3 minute walk down the drive to the beach and is a short walk from shops and restaurants in Speight Town. Good value for money also.

Bird and Dee open thier hearts, family and condos to vacationers and ex-pats! We were relocating to the island for work and they made us feel right at home! Our container got hung up, so we couldn't move-in when expected. They were kind and understanding and let us keep staying "one more night" until our bed arrived! Friends made to ease our transition!
