With approximately 200 individuals in this group, the dolphin encounter rate with Dolphinwatch is one of the best in the world. Every trip is different in this dynamic environment! This was an amazing experience.

The whole trip is designed to be as eco and dolphin friendly as possible.

Of course there is no guarantee, but the team used their knowledge to locate the first dolphin within 10 minutes of leaving port. They were riding the bow waves of a departing tanker.

We then managed to track a group for 20 - 30 minutes. These individuals showed no sign of distress, but I was mightily impressed when the captain announced we would be leaving them to their business and that we would try and locate another pod. Exactly the right balance between human and dolphin interaction.

We did manage to locate some more dolphins and again tracked these.

The whole trip lasted just over 2 hours and it was brilliant. There was plenty of information provided by the team, especially during the "quiet" times where no dolphins were around. They were very happy to answer any questions about the dolphins and also provided information about local seabirds and the rock formations.

There was the opportunity to purchase some drinks on board, these were all "eco friendly" options.

The team ensured that everyone rotated positions at the front of the boat, so we could all get good looks at the dolphins out front. As this was done in the right way and dolphins were also off the side of the boat, it wasn't a problem.

An amazing experience and I wouldn't hesitate to do again if I was in the area.

Myself and the family went on the Dolphinwatch trip while visiting Kilkee. It was brilliant from start to finish. The knowledge the crew had of the local area and the dolphins was second to none. The fact there was a qualified marine biologist on board was brilliant. No question went unanswered and the captain gave a running commentary of facts about the dolphins as we searched for them.
We got to see plenty of dolphins and their calves which was brilliant and we all loved it.
My wife was a little sea sick during the trip and the staff were brilliant with her.
This is a must do if you are in the area. By far one the best parts of our trip!

I have visited Carrigaholt many times but never thought to take a trip Dolphin watching. But recently my family were of doing other things and I was left at a loose end on my own.
So I decided why not take a trip out on the river to watch the Dolphins. And what a trip it was, an adventure.
You never guaranteed to see the dolphins and we were on the estuary for quite awhile before they suddenly appeared and what a wonder that was.
The trip was greatly enhanced by the captain's Jeff McGee commentary on all that we observed, a very knowledgable man indeed.
If travelling to the Loop Head area don't miss the Dolphin Watch at Carrigaholt.
Tip, always call to check sailings as they are weather dependent.

We had the most amazing trip which was made extra special by the excellent members of staff we had with us on our trip. We had some spectacular sightings of some wild dolphins and even managed to see a young calf a few times. Luckily we were blessed with the most gorgeous weather and so had stunning views of the dynamic west coastline. Highly knowledgeable staff and a very eco friendly tour which is immensely important. Also not a packed out boat which was fantastic as it meant that everyone could get a great view of the dolphins and the sea birds and caves. Would 100% recommend!
Thankyou!!!!

We really enjoyed this trip and to see dolphins in the wild was one of the highlights of our holiday. Staff are really knowledgeable and friendly, and I liked the focus on conservation.

Booking and arrangements very efficient and friendly too.
