“Lovely cottage, lovely people, beautiful village!”

We arrived to a warm welcome from Ricky and Chris who showed us around the cottage and gave us plenty of tips on things to do and places to go. The shippon has been beautifully renovated and decorated in a nice cosy style.
Charlie loved seeing the chickens in the garden and the eggs were delicious! Having milk, tea, coffee and oil was an unexpected bonus so thank you for that! The kitchen is well stocked if you want to cook at home too.
We did lots of nice walks around the village and managed to find our way to Calder on the way home for a lovely walk by the river. The free standing bath was another highlight for us! Amazing! For anyone else taking a baby- the travel cot is very comfy so he slept brilliantly.
All in all we had a really lovely stay, couldn't have been better and we hope to come again one day.
Thanks so much Ricky and Chris. x

“Cosy Cottage with friendly hosts”
Reviewed 24 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Ricky & Chris,

Thanks for a wonderful stay, we really enjoyed staying in the cottage and cycling on the Monsal Trail.

The cottage is perfect for a weekend away and a good location to explore the Peak District. Eyam is a small village but very quaint and has an interesting history. Ricky and Chris are very friendly and welcoming. They recommended a few places to eat and even managed to give us a lift to a restaurant on one of the nights and helped me arrange a delivery of flowers/champagne which my wife greatly appreciated !

Lovely meal at Curry Cottage in Stoney Middleton also the Devonshire Arms in Baslow. Have a walk through Eyam up to the Riley Graves, then to the Mompessons Well. If its a nice day finish off by heading up to Bretton to the Barrel Inn for a nice pint before your walk back to Eyam down the hill.

I would recommend a shower curtain in the bathroom and also a new sofa ! Apart from that a memorable exciting weekend and we can't wait to visit the peak district again.

“Excellent”

Couldn't wish for a nicer place to stay. Welcomed by Ricky and Chris who live right next to the self-catering cottage. Freshly laid eggs plus milk, tea and coffee were provided on arrival. The cottage is filled with many interesting, homely features - oak beams, farm tools and various clocks. Comfortable bed and very peaceful surroundings.

“Amazing hosts!”
Reviewed 13 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We found this cottage while searching for accommodation for a wedding in the nearby Maynard hotel. I drove up earlier than my partner who was getting the train up from London after work. Ricky and Chris were so incredibly welcoming and accommodating - they even took me on a drive to the train station in daylight to help me find my way to collect my partner later that night. We gorged on eggs from their own free range hens and during our stay Chris even called over with some extra cottage pie, which was delicious. The accommodation itself was perfect and I enjoyed a relaxing soak in the gorgeous bath. We would love to visit again and stay longer. Thank you Ricky and Chris, it was a pleasure!

“Thumbs up all round”
Reviewed 9 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We stayed in this property for a long weekend. Rick and Chris met us on arrival, a warm and very welcoming couple who had some great tips and pointers for the local area.

The house lovely and has everything that you need, a good kitchen and a lovely little outdoor area to enjoy the evening sun. The bedroom is airy and the bed / bedding was very comfortable.

There are, maybe unsurprisingly walks from the front door as well as some spectacular scenery / walks just a short drive away. Besides walking, Eyam itself has a deep history surrounding the Black Death and informatio is easily accessible, and Chatsworth Hall & Haddon Hall are close by.

Overall we had exactly the weekend we had hoped for, walking and a good relax in the peace of the Peak District - perfect.
