On September 1st 2018 our son married the love of his life. The reception was held at Alison House. The marquee was magnificent, in the beautiful, peaceful garden. The weather was perfect. We arrived to be greeted with prosecco and cranberry juice, very refreshing on a hot day, beer for he men and orange juice for those who didn,t drink. Then on to the Wedding Breakfast, a superb carvery. Turkey, beef, pork, gammon and a cream cheese and spinach roulade.Vegetables cooked to perfection and Yorksire puddings. The meat was so succulent and tender, delicious. this was followed by a choice of 5 sweets, The Management team, Sharon and Nigel are amazing and the staff very proffesional and helpful and always smiling. What more can I say. A truly magical day made even more special by the wonderful Alison House.

Room Tip: All the rooms are perfect, large and so peaceful

We stayed here 1 night as was travelling from Scarborough to London. We also wanted to visit the Heights of Abraham which was 10 mins drive away.

The hotel is a bit inside away from the main road. Thank goodness for sat nav! Check in was easy and we were shown to our room at the back of the hotel upstairs. Luckily we didn't have much luggage with us! We were in room 7 which is a big family room with 4 actual beds (not sofa beds). A fan heater was available which we had to use as was chilly. We had a lovely view of the garden and surrounding dales. The shower room was quite small but adequate. Some body lotion would have been helpful.

We decided to eat at the hotel's restaurant rather than drive aimlessly looking for another place to eat. Shaun went out of his way to ensure we had a great service and even gave me a complimentary soft drink. We ordered from the Bar Menu and my daughter from the Kids Menu. There were no other guests eating at the restaurant. We didn't receive a bill at the end of the meal as was told to pay at check out.

The next morning, we went down for breakfast at 9 as it finishes at 9:30am. There were some buffet options and the rest you order from the menu. Service was very good though.

I believe the hotel is used as a wedding venue and can see why! Would recommend.

I'd have given it 5 stars if the WiFi was better. Mum couldn't get it to work at all!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Lovely gardens to stroll around. Our room was very spacious with a nice big bathroom. Dined in the restaurant and had a lovely meal. Staff very welcoming. Would definitely stay again.

Fantastic place to stay. Food out of this world such a good choice. Excellent customer service. Nothing was too much trouble. Situated in a little village just outside Matlock. Rooms were bright a d clean, gardens were well kept and lovely and relaxing to sit in. Sitting room was a good size and comfortable to sit and enjoy view of garden whilst having a drink. Took my elderly parents with us. Good place what ever age. Would highly recommend.

This hotel is a bit hard to find but once you are there you can enjoy the peace and quiet of the large gardens. The room was correct although it would have been good to have 2 chairs instead of just one. We had dinner and breakfast there which were both very good.
