Great little restaurant with interesting history...it actually has an historic jail! The staff are lovely and the food is wonderful. There's a carpark too.

We've just been back here, 16 years after our first visit - not sure why we didn't make it sooner given we have a little village house only 15km away. This has all the charm you'd expect of the oldest venta in the Axarquia - 800 years old. Blackened beams and stonework, old tiled floors, a quirky approach to the main restaurant that involves walking round behind the counter in the bar area, and an even more quirky opportunity to eat in an interior room with no natural light that was originally a large cell and still has the bars in one of the two doorways to prove it. The food's typically Spanish - for a late lunch I had an enormous plateful of fresh mushrooms (November is mushroom season of course) with chips and an egg, for about 8 euros, and could barely eat anything else for the rest of the day, and it was delicious too. Very popular, even at this out of season time of year, so get there early or reserve.

We looked for a restaurant on trip advisor prior to our trip and we were so pleased with had. Firstly there are few restaurants in these remote locations and secondly and most importantly the restaurant was very interesting in terms of ambience and menu offerings. We ordered a pork in honey main course which was incredibly tender and tasty along with the traditional meal of eggs, mushroom and potato which was a surprise! Thinking of an omelette it arrived as French fries, fried egg and a huge pile of fried mushrooms. It was very good but unexpected. A lovely fire place by our table added more charm while enjoying the house wine which was good. The owner was extremely attentive to our needs and provided us with English menus along with a farewell liquour. They sell olive oils, honey and homemade traditional biscuits. The building is remarkable in terms of age and history......very charming!

Came across this amazing restaurant in the middle of nowhere by accident and stopped for lunch.

What a surprise! a restaurant with history, great atmosphere and extremely good value for money.

Mixed salad for two (one of the nicest we have had) Fresh Cod with a tomato sauce (delicious) two glass of (seriously nice) red house wine, coffee and complimentary liquor all for €30.00 !!

Fantastic scenery when driving from Velez Malaga all made a wonderful mornings drive. Would highly recommend a visit.
