First time I have ventured to London to visit an NT property, but I was not disappointed. There is no on site parking (except disabled) but there is a free car park 150 metres away from the property and some free parking by the park opposite the entrance.

The house is very grand and you can go in a reasonable amount of rooms. There is plenty to see, but they were renovating some of the rooms but this did not spoil the visit. As usual, all the staff in the rooms were very knowledgeable and would answer any questions you may have.

The gardens were nice, I took a free guided tour which lasted about 40 minutes, which was very informative. Some of the gardens were in the process of being re planted but this did not spoil the visit.

The Thames is a stones throw away, and I had a pleasant time walking along the embankment, towards Richmond. All in all, worth a look.

For those with walking challenges you can be dropped off at the front gate and the driver can park on the road, an easy 5 minute walk. The house was having a film made there so the rooms were not all set up. But, the ones that were open were very interesting. Don't miss the older bath in England below the house. Or where they made herbs. Enjoyed the volunteer in the kitchen. A little hard to get to (with traffic) but lovely escape. Wish we had time to go for walk along the river and through the gardens. They looked lovely.

I came here on a day trip to London. The walk along the river Thames to get to it was lovely, the sun shone and the river was busy with boat race activity.
Upon arrival however I was a little disappointed. The house from the driveway looked good but once inside there was nothing much to see as a film crew were arriving later in the week so things had been packed away.
I headed for the gardens thinking this would be a better place, again I was disappointed. I could not see some of the things that were outlined on the map.
In all honesty its not one of the best National Trust places I've been to and I have to say that the only positive thing for me, being a member was that it was free.

Situated by the River Thames this historic house has been really well restored by the National Trust - the gardens in particular are beautiful. The Orangery is a good place to have lunch, coffee or just a snack - great outdoor seating with fabulous views over the garden. A nice shop on site, never cheap but always interesting. Friendly staff, although this house is self guided, there was always someone on hand to answer questions and have a conversation with. Well worth a visit!

Interesting step back in time. Kitchens very good, lovely gardens, very much a time warp back a few hundred years. Nice cafe by the kitchen garden too. Also a lovely spot to go for a walk by the thames
