Wendy the owner was genuinely warm and welcoming on our arrival, set in an enviable position with views of William Wallace Monument and Edinburgh Castle from the terraced seated area in the large enclosed garden, which Daisy our cockapoo loved, the cottage was spotlessly clean and quality through out.
A great base for days out and and highly rated restaurants.
Mallard Cottage is very well situated in the heart of Scotland. Shops and main attractions are a stones throw away from Stirling. The place itself is very well appointed and clean with all the mod cons including a washing machine. Great views, especially at night when the castle and monument light up. Loved the history surrounding the place - we watched Braveheart whilst taking in the views and had a movie experience like no other! Little touches like the chocolates, fresh flowers, scones and jam made us feel like royalty. We have travelled throughout the UK and stayed in many holiday rentals, and this would have to be one of the best. Special thanks to Wendy for a great stay.
This cottage is truly superb. 5 stars and more. The attention to detail makes your stay so comfortable, they have thought of everything. High quality fixtures, fittings and accessories. We wanted for nothing.
Plenty of easy parking on the drive.
The owner welcomes you on arrival and you can tell they want you to enjoy your stay. She took the time to explain the cottage and how to contact her if needed. The owner lives next door and is available if needed but leaves you to get on with your holiday .
There are homemade scones to welcome you with jam, wine, milk and butter in the fridge, eggs, flowers and chocolates on the side. Even the dog had dog chews left out for him.
Mallard cottage is a bungalow all on one level its very clean and warm. There is a log burner but the under floor heating is so efficient that we didnt need to light the burner.
The kitchen is fully fitted with high quality cook ware and appliances.
There are two large double bedrooms, the beds are extremely comfortable.
The garden is enclosed so safe for your dog.
The most impressive thing about this accomodation is the view. Stirling castle, Wallace monument and the Ochills. The sunsets are amazing.
A short walk over the field behind the cottage and you are on the banks of the river Forth.
The location is rural on a farm, however amenities are just minutes away and easily accesible. The park and ride bus to Stirling town centre is at the end of the farm lane next to a supermarket and an out of town retail estate. Stirling itself is a short drive away.
We used the cottage as a central base and toured out each day, it was perfect for this type of holiday and you always felt relaxed and happy when you came back to the cottage.
We have stayd in many places and agree that this was the best yet. The photos dont really do it justice, its wonderful, high class and with the most amazing view. No expense has been spared on the furnishings and accessories.
Has superfast wifi and the TV even has Netflix.
There are useful tourist guide books and leaflets left to help you.
100% recommend this cottage and have already told friends about it.
