My wife booked an overnight visit for our anniversary...it was a surprise and I didn't know what to expect, but it was a wonderful surprise. It was so different to anywhere we had stayed before, but in a good way! Lovely, friendly helpful staff, excellent food, a great room and a great location for walks. You really do need to eat there though (and why wouldn't you?) as it's a bit of a trek to local pubs etc. Overall a superb night away!

This is a good place. Wonderfully remote in stunning countryside it provides a really comfortable stay.

The 4 course dinner was excellent - really smashing imaginative, well executed food. The drinks are well priced and the service by an attentive, friendly couple was superb.

The beds were super super comfortable and the whole decor is done beautifully.

We'll definitely be back...

We have just returned from a day and evening away at The Barn at Roundhurst and we really couldn't rate it highly enough.
On arrival we had a wonderfully warm greeting, delicious coffee and homemade biscuits, were allowed to check in early (we arrived at around 14:00 as we'd hired bikes and wanted to make the best of the day), were shown the menu for the evening meal (they'd completely catered for our dietary requirements), they even stuck together a map together for us to take with us in our ride.
Our room was beautifully decorated and incredibly comfortable. For dinner
they provided a 4 course meal. It was delicious. The service was second to none and was the perfect balance of attentive but allowing us to have privacy, considering how intimate the dining area is.
We were so full post dinner that we finished our delicious and reasonably priced Malbec and went to bed. The bed was comfortable and we both had a lovely nights sleep.
Breakfast was yummy and just topped of our stay nicely. Thank you so much to the staff. We will definitely be back!

We stayed for the second time this year and were not disappointed. The reception as usual very welcoming. The room spacious as well as the bathroom. The king size bed very comfortable. We love the extras like special coffee and the yummy biscuits. It is so refreshing to step out of the room in the morning into a bamboo plant surrounded peaceful courtyard on our way to the main building for a delicious breakfast. Heavenly bread, fruit platter, homemade museli and full cooked English breakfast. We ate this time down the road at the Lickfold Inn. Highly recommended for imaginative food and a lovely dining experience. Recommended the steak tartare and the lamb. It is so quiet here and is set in a beautiful location. Lovely relaxing adult atmosphere. Pity it was only for 1 night. We will be back!

Room Tip: The superior rooms are worth the extra cost.

Stayed here for my wedding night. I had told the venue it was my wedding night and half expected some sort of special treatment for example a congratulations note. Nothing big just something. We got nothing.
The venue is seriously overpriced for what you get.
We booked a Deluxe king size room. Didn't feel like anything special. Nice but underwhelming for the price.
The breakfast was not great either. Bacon and sausages were overcooked. The mushroom was amazing though
We were unable to book a taxi to pick us up on the next morning. The taxi services they offered refused to pick us up so we had to arrange a lift with friends.
The venue is picturesque and in the quiet countryside but not worth the high cost.

Thank you for taking the trouble to review your stay at The Barn at Roundhurst and I'm sorry you thought your stay was less than perfect.

Your booking was for one of our smaller Deluxe rooms on a Saturday night. The only rate available on a Saturday night is for Dinner Bed and Breakfast. As this was your wedding night you obviously declined to take dinner but decided to book anyway.
I agree that for Bed and Breakfast the cost would seem high but for Dinner Bed & Breakfast we think represents good value for money.

Our situation in quiet countryside can have its drawbacks, one being the scarcity of taxis. If we had know a taxi was needed on Sunday morning we would have been more than happy to book this in advance.

I hope you will come and visit us again, making full use of everything we have to offer. Many newly weds come back for their first anniversary and we would be delighted to make a fuss of you too.

Kind regards

Moya
