Went here for a few days. First impression was that the hotel was a bit dated. after settling in nothing but positives about it.
Clean, friendly and helpful staff, big rooms and nice breakfast. The hotel is in the middle of town and everything is walking distance. Short on parking but we were lucky to find a spot in the hotel parking. Good place to stay and not too expensive.

Our first time at Ilfracombe, nice clean hotel, our room had been refurbished, very nice.
In a side location our room looked over a craggy little cove and hillside walk.
The food was very good, as in all Leisureplex hotels and the staff very helpful and kind.
A short walk to the quay for a boat trip or a ride around town on the little train.
Our only problem was the squeaky floorboards above our room, the person walked up
and down constantly at night.

My wife and I have enjoyed a lovely 7 day break in early June in the Imperial. We travelled with Alpha. During our visit we went to Hartland Abbey which was very interesting but could have done with more time to explore the various walks. Lynton & Lynmouth we found to be more pleasurable than the trip to Bideford which in our opinion looked a little sad and run down in places. Barnstaple had interesting features so we went back on one of our days off to spend more time there.
The Imperial Hotel was clean and tidy and having a sea view room was a good choice on our part. The room was somewhat dated but comfortable. Shame about the outlook regarding the theatre and the 3 concrete cones, they definitely spoil the view. They should have sacked the architect when he drew up the plans. The Verity Bronze on Ilfracombe Harbour is not in my eyes particular nice to see but some people may find it ok. I'm old fashioned I suppose. The rest of the resort was quite pleasant for a stroll.
I'm choosy where food is concerned but it was plentiful and delicious and you could always ask for more if you wanted. The staff were very obliging and efficient. Special thanks to Mario who looked after us. Reception was first class and the manager was friendly which we both found nice. We wish to thank all the staff who helped us enjoy our holiday so much and we will return again if we can in the near future.

Room tip: Room 104 With Sea view was above the entertainment room which can be a little noisy if you want an early night but was comfortable.

A good location for all ages, only concern is the steep hill to reach the town centre.
Hotel staff all lovely and professional.
Rooms are dated but clean and views from the front are splendid.
Would go again.

Room tip: Always request a sea view room.
