This is a lovely, traditional hotel. Very Scottish! We went there the first weekend in September. It was my first trip away from home after months of being shielded because of my health. From the moment we arrived, my anxieties diminished. At the hotel entrance, there was a hand sanitizer dispenser. Similar dispensers were in evidence throughout the hotel, including outside the restaurant. Staff wore masks and we were required to wear them when we moved around the hotel, which operated a one way system. At reception our temperature was taken and we were given our room key and an infiormation leaflet and verbal advice.
Our room was on the ground floor and double aspect. It was beautifully appointed. The large, walk in shower tray and wash room facilities were clean and modern. There was even a bottle of hand sanitizer left in our room for us to use throughout our stay. There was a tray with kettle and two disposable cups. We could order tea, coffee, milk and sugar from reception, as required. It was delivered to our room and placed outside in a paper bag. Staff did not enter our room unless we requested it and we would then have to vacate the room while it was serviced.
Friends from England were spending a week at the hotel and they had recommended it to us. Staff were sensitive to the fact that we were from two separate households. We were able to join them in the restaurant for meals by sitting two metres apart at a large table. We were given separate coffee pots, milk jugs etc. Staff are well trained to deal with the restrictions that this virus places upon us.
Overall, it was a great stay, relaxing and safe. I can't wait to return.

Room tip: We were more than happy with our room on the ground floor.

Went yesterday to meet family for a birthday meal . Arrived and had a great welcome from manager and reception was directed to bar area . Nice view of gardens and warm and welcoming. Food had been pre ordered and arrived promptly. Due to restrictions we could not all sit together but it was managed well . Food tasty . Had a cake organised and all in all a very pleasant experience. Will definitely be back I live locally but soma family members were staying there all left happy .

I stayed there for one night to catch up with a friend. Room was clean and of a good size. Staff were friendly and helpful. They have taken a responsible approach to COVID and have enabled sensible social distancing whilst not being draconian about it.
Would return.

We spent 4 nights at 'the Duke' as a family of four recently. It was a brilliant way to enjoy everything the Highlands has to offer.

The hotel is situated in the quiet village of Kingussie - a stone's throw from all the attractions of the Cairngorms - a trip to Loch an Eilann was the highlight. When you enter the hotel you feel instantly welcome - it has a roaring fire and lots of comfortable spots to spend an hour or two with a drink or reading a book.

We ate every morning and evening in the main dining room and thankfully we all had great appetites after spending the days in the great outdoors. The food was plentiful and very tasty.

A big shout out to Marek who was on the bar most evenings. All the staff were good but nothing was too much trouble for Marek :)
