It was a wonderful stay in the Maple Lodge. They provided our basic needs with complete kitchen equipments, bed linen and towel provided, very quiet and peaceful. Mel was very informative and helpful about the local area esp for walking dog. We also enjoyed the visit of chickens and pheasant at the lodge, daughter and my dog loved the garden saw the rabbit and flowers!. Highly reccomended. Thank you so much, Mel and Keith. Best wishes adie linda izzy and bella the dog
A hidden rural gem!
Lovely welcome from Keith, especially kind to our overly excited and large 8mth Labrador! Maple lodge better than expected with great views of the surrounding countryside. Better equipped than most self catering places, as well as tea coffee and basic condiments, the milk and fresh eggs provided were lovely. Eggs were supplied by the chickens who roam the spring flowers and beautiful grounds ( our Dug not allowed off lead!) with one funny strutting pheasant! Great to relax on the veranda of the lodge, which is both child and puppy safe, and watch their antics!
We used the lodge as a base to go exploring during the day, around some beautiful local walks, including the bluebell woods, Ardblair trail, Drimmie woods and Den of Alyth. All our walking tired our puppy out, and allowed us to walk the short distance to the local pub for dinner.
Our puppy is crate trained and there was plenty space in the living area to accommodate his large crate, and we didn't feel hindered while we watched some TV or dined at the table. The bedroom is spacious and has luxuriously comfy bed, we could only stay two nights and didn't need much of the plentiful storage.
Lodge has a living room fire as well as heaters in all rooms, we were lucky and had good weather so didn't have the heating on much at all.
I am a picky customer but have absolutely no complaints or criticisms!
Second time we have stayed at pondfaulds and can’t fault it, lodge is so cosy and the grounds are perfect! Mel and Keith are wonderful hosts and are always on hand for anything needed
