We just passed by and decided to have a cup of coffee. It ended up having a look at the manor house and having lunch. The last one was very local, simple, but tasty. When on your way to Kassari, it is worth to drop in.
We had a guided tour (in Estonian) here by a woman who has worked here for decades. She was very interesting and made good jokes too. The interior was very interesting, just like the stories. There is also a former manor park nearby, somewhat abandoned but it was interesting to walk there in a beautiful summer morning. There is also Allika hostel very close where to stay. As a school, it is probably not open to the public as such but somehow guided tours should be possible, at least in summertime.
This is the largest manor house on Hiiumaa and dates from the mid 1700s. Located no more than 50 yards from the main road. The building has been preserved by the state, but only because the building now houses a Vocational school as well as an elementary school. Consequently the interior is NOT open to the public.
The English style park that surrounds the house is open to the public and worth a visit.
