Visited here just before leaving the island, wish we'd gone earlier so we could have stayed longer! Really pretty interior and nice garden to sit in. Fab weather so able to sit outside. Cream tea was amazing, really tasty. Definitely worth a visit here.

Visited Vernon Cottage for a late lunch whilst in Shanklin Old Village a couple of weeks back - walked in and was seated immediately, once I had placed the order I had literally only just got back to the table when the food turned up which was very good service. We had jacket potatoes and these were well cooked and well presented. Pleasant surroundings in this rustic thatched cottage, plenty of outdoor seating in the enclosed garden for sunny days, seems like a generally popular place - we had a nice meal here and would go back.

We stumbled on Vernon Cottage by chance on a Saturday evening as all the pubs in Shanklin old village were bursting at the seems. How lucky we were! We received a warm welcome and the food and service were excellent. It is cosy inside with a nice relaxing atmosphere.

We had a super meal on our last night of our holiday.

The service was excellent and the food was all home cooked and tasted good.

We had olives and nachos to start. The olives also came with salad, bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The nachos had a super salsa and fresh guacamole.

We ordered the Vernon burger which was very meaty and came with chilli, which was delicious. We also had veggie sausages and mash, which again were succulent and not dry! The gravy was excellent too.

The best part of the meal was the service though. Alan, was very amenable and friendly.

Would highly recommend.
