“A Beautiful and Peaceful Place”
Reviewed 9 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

We spent three wonderful nights in the cottage after a busy 7 days of seeing sights in London and York. It was a wonderful place to have a quiet break from the crowds! The accommodations are very comfortable and Mick was a wonderful host, collecting us from the train station and providing us with a generous hamper of treats including wine, sweets and home baked bread that was amazing! He showed us around Seham and provided lots of helpful tips on where to go to hunt for sea glass which was why we made a stop in Seaham on our UK trip. The little kitchen is well appointed for cooking some meals in if you wish and the beds are very comfy. The little creek that runs out back is beautiful and we enjoyed sitting on the little patio. We left today for Edinburgh and already miss the peaceful beauty of the little cottage. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a peaceful getaway for a few days. I am looking forward to returning again!

“Relaxing, cosy and homely”
Reviewed 2 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful cottage, Mick was very welcoming and let us know where everything was, not to mention the very generous welcome pack complete with delicious homemade bread! As well as being in an idyllic location with all the peace and quiet you could want, it was just a stones throw away from Seaham and Dalton Park if you fancied a day out. The recommendation cards were brilliant and we visited as many as we could; the highly praised "Humbles", and "The Crows Nest" were absolutely lovely places to eat or simply enjoy a drink. We were also glad that Mick let us know about "Seaham Waves", a beautiful sea glass studio that we frequented on our visit, and "Nicey Icey" which served tasty ice cream! We were equally happy to spend the day at the cottage, which felt very homely, and enjoy the pretty stream. We didn't want to leave!

“The ultimate all round package”
Reviewed 3 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We found the cottage to be the ideal accommodation for us and our 2 young children (aged 9 and 12), situated conveniently just up the road from Seaham beach in a serene location next to a visually enticing stream and fantastic church. Along with the St Cuthbert terraced row of houses, these features contributed to give a terrific historic feel to the place overall. The cottage itself was at the end of the terrace with terrific views out the back and to the side, with a lovely courtyard stretching from the side round to the back so that we could catch the sun as we moved round with our glasses of wine!! The two bedrooms were good sizes, the main double bedroom giving plenty of room to manoeuvre, and the second room with good conditioned bunk beds which the kids loved. The owners (Mick and Jules) had left the place spotless in preparation for our week long stay, and the welcome pack they left was just superb, a really lovely surprise which we've never experienced at a guest house before. We'll definitely be visiting again and would recommend this place to families, groups of friends or couples.

“Cosy, clean and comfortable”
Reviewed 20 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

Great for accessibility to Newcastle and Durham. Dalton le dale much more desirable than neighbouring Seaham... Although the redeeming feature of Seaham was its famous ice cream parlour!! We were greeted by a friendly owner, a welcome hamper of treats and the smell of freshly cooked chive bread. The accommodation has everything required for a comfortable stay. There were log burners for chilly evenings but we had great weather so were able to sit outside on the patio area overlooking the stream with a glass of wine. We will definitely return when we are visiting the area again! Thank you.

“Get away from it all and unwind”
Reviewed 19 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

After four nights at Eastshaw Guesthouse (same owner) we stayed another three at the cottage. Mick provided a fabulous hamper (incl his homemade bread). Next to the cottage is a rivelet, really nice spot. Inside spacious for a couple (additional two kids in bunk beds possible), wood/coal burning stove. Outside sitting area to enjoy the sun (no joke). Great place to be!
